I have a 2003 TL. There is a nail in my rear driver tire, and the tire cannot be repaired. My current tires have 25,000 miles on them and are in great shape.

I have placed and order for one Michelin MXV4 plus (original equipment) -- $140.

Do you think that buying one tire will inhibit the handling of my car? Someone suggested having the tire company "wear down the tread" of the new tire. I dont know what that means.

the stock tires are crap, you should have bought 4 new ones. as for tire wear down... i have never heard of that.
