n00b question/what do you recommend?

Hi everyone, this is my first time here. I just bought (purchased) a 2004 Acura TL AT Black back in May. I love the car but I didn't want to drop $5000 on the A-Spec package. However, I would like to put either 18" or 19" rims, slightly wider tires and lower it at least an inch. However, I am concerned because on occassion I scrape the front exiting a parking lot that is at a weird angle.

What you you recommend for rims, tires, shocks? URLS would be great. I live in Atlanta, locations that could perform service would be helpful too. Anything else that I am overlooking?

Thanks,
Drookue

rims - RonJon Inspyre, Enkei, OZ (maybe TSW if your budget is tight) www.bigwheels.net
tires - Falken Ziex-512 all-season (or ST115 summer tires) www.hptire.net
springs - Comptech 1" drop
shocks - , if Bilsteins are available i'd get them

if you scrape now you will always scrape, find another way out.

I agree with cvajs on the Falken tires. In Atlanta you might want to go with the summer tires - ST-115's, but the 512's are good too. If you want to move to 18 inch wheels and tires, edgeracing.com has some bundles of tires and rims that look pretty good and are reasonable. I like the Falken "torque" rims, but there are others to chose.
If you haven't noticed, the stock shocks are rather soft, and IMHO are the biggest problem with the suspension. KONIs are available, but pricey.

Regarding the scraping, mostly it is the plastic dam under the nose. I hit mine a lot, but it flexes and recovers. If you lower the car it will be more of an issue.

Thanks for your thoughts. I am debating the Giovanni Essen or the Foose Lusso wheels, 19" x 8.5. I think I will go with the Falken Ziex 512 tires. All of that for around $3000. Now with the those and the Comptech springs who would I go to, to have all that done? Should I got to a custom wheels shop, the dealer, etc? Forgive the ignorance, but I don't know diddly about cars.

Some dealers will install the Comptech springs, but not all. Only if they are a Comptech-authorized dealer. Most aftermarket shops can do it though.

I would go with the Foose Lussos. I've seen them on a green TL (I'll try and find it soon), and they look great.

About scraping, try entering and exiting ramps at an angle and SLOWLY. That should help slightly.

Lastly, Lakeman: Konis are out for the TL? Didn't even hear about it...

edit:
Found the pic. This is mgokool's car.

I would rock the RonJon wheels if I had a TL.

I checked out the RonJon wheels website, and they appeared to only have 2 styles. I am more partial to their Servo style, but IMO I think the that Foose Lusso's have a little better look to them.

I guess I need to start making some calls to some local tire and wheel places to see who can do the work I want done with the parts I want.
