are you sure that these are before and after pictures? they look identical (i'm guessing its just the angles being different)

In the first picture the rear looks lower than the front, but in the second picture it's the opposite. Hm.

And is that some sort of trim put around the wheel arches?

^I think he has a 07-08 Base with Type-S wheels and sidemarkers. That would explain the fog lights in the lower grills with the silver trim, the DRLs in the headlights, and the front A-Spec lip.
