My New Wheels: MRR GT1

Here are my new wheels that replaced the XXR 527s. They're MRR GT1 18x9.5 +45 Offset with Hankook V4 235/40/18 front and rear.

I loved the XXR 527s, but have to say I like these a little more. Definitely need to buy some coilovers to lower the rear. Let me know what you all think. Thanks for looking.

I think they look great, nice and clean!
I'm assuming you're on springs!?!? If so, if all you're looking for is a LITTLE more low in the rear, consider just cutting off one of the dead coils. My fiance's 08 Accord's H&R springs, left the rear way up in the air, cut off 1 dead coil and it sits perfectly even now...didn't affect ride at all since that coil doesn't provide any recoil.

NIcely done!

Yeah, I'm on H&R springs, but looks like I need to invest in some koni yellows or make the jump to the big boys and buy some coilovers. Only thing...is that I love the way my car rides right now. I've cut springs before, but I want to keep it OE, so I can help someone else out by selling it on BM. So far Tein Street Advance, BC, Megan, and HT-SPec F&F V2 Coilovers are on my list.

Thanks. Certainly on the top of my mod list now. Plus, I may put a 15mm spacer in the rear, but not sure how that affects the geometry of the rear suspension. I need to do more research.

Nice! I've got the same rims except mine are 19x8.5! It'll definitely look way cleaner if you go lower.

Thank you all for your comments. I am definitely researching coilovers and think I know what I'm going to get. I'll post some pics once I get them installed.

Those wheels look good on a white car. And definitely consider the Koni's if you can find a good deal on them. You can always play with the perches. Coilovers are nice, but I don't know they compare to Koni's when it comes to ride and handling. Get the Koni's dialed in with a Progress RSB and you'll be surprised at what the TL can do.

I was thinking about Konis, but I'm not sure if it will close the fender/tire gap without going too low. I'm thinking of only going another 1/4" in the rear. Also, not sure how the perch affects the shock's travel, in regards to proper rebound.

However, I did read somewhere that this model has a shorter shock to compensate. In my opinion the only difference between the BC and Megans is price, I know others will argue about quality, but the Megans for the TL are not that bad of a product. I don't intend to track my car anymore, so Tein Advance or Megans?

Thanks! This was the main reason for switching wheels. I love the way the black XXR527s made the TL real sporty, but lacked any touch of luxury. I personally feel that these wheels give my TL a little bit of both sport and class.

Okay, finally got the Megan Coilovers installed. The dampening is close to where I want it, but may need some minor adjustments. Sorry about the quality of the pictures, all I have right now is my iPhone. Thanks for looking.

I'm running some 5mm ichiba spacers right now and was thinking about getting some custom 8mm spacers, but may just go with some 10mm if I can get the guts to roll my fenders.

Rolling fenders isn't a big deal, it's more time consuming than anything else. Just take your time.

If I do, then 10mm spacers with 245/35/18 tires. So I can get more out of the 9.5" wheel width.

Oops, I meant to say 245/40/18. It will still have a slight stretch, which will help me clear my fenders with a fender roll. Also, I hope it will help a little to absorb some of the energy when I run into bad road conditions.

Yes, I have JNC modded headlights installed. There are some pictures of the headlights posted in my misc album.

With a 245/40/....u won't have any stretch on a 9.5 wheel....for what u wanna do...u should stick with the 235/40......this would be a ever so slight stretch......

I'll get a better feel for what I want to do with tire size once I install the spacers. Thanks for your input.
