mixing tire sizes for the TL
Hey guys, I have a question for you. First of all, am I seeing correctly that the stock size for an 04 TL is 235/45 R17?
When I bought my TL (used) it had 245's all the way around. I have a slash in one of my rear tires so I was just going to replace two of them. I would like to go back to the stock size (235's). Would it hurt to run 235's on the front and 245's on the rear temporarily? I know this is common in a lot of sports cars but I wanted to check to see if it would matter on the TL. The remaining tires still have some life left in them so I hate to replace all of them at once.
Thanks!

If the diameter are not the same (with a small amount of variance allowed) the wheels will be turning at different speeds.
When you get wheels turning at different speeds, above a certain threshold, the Traction Control and/or VSA could kick in.

On a FWD car, you want the larger tires up front, since the front tires drive the car (this has to do with performance). Also, any new tires, whether you drive a FWD, RWD, or AWD, should always go in the rear (this has to do with safety).
