Lowest offset and widest rim width for '08 Type-S

so i've been browsing the forums and i am trying to find the lowest confirmed offest for my type-s to clear the stock brembos. i think what has been confirmed is +38 offset with a rim width of 8.5 but of course im sure it depends on the size of the tires.

i really like the set up of ballinfizzle89's but would his aggressive set up fit my brembos? the front setup was 18x9.5 with an offset of +18 on the car.

i have a feeling these won't fit... so i ask, what's the lowest offset and the widest i can go with my front?

I'm running 19x8.5 with a 29mm wheel offset and 245/35R19 tires lowered with no fender gap. You probably can go a little lower in the offset without going crazy on the lowering.

38 offset is the minimum to clear the brembos. I am running +18 seventeens on my car. Clears with plenty of room. Anything below 38 should clear you just fine.

the lowest offset depends on whether you are willing to make them fit or not

+35 is the threshold... not +38... there are plenty of wheels that are +38 that require spacer to clear the brembos... +35 wheels generally clear

i am more or less wondering the same thing, i want to stick with 17s but i also want the widest wheels/tires i can fit without nutty modifications(extreme camber/rolling/etc) and no rubbing. was hoping for 17x9.5 enkei RPF-1 or rota torque but i can't confirm their fitment. tire rack refused to sell me 17x9 RPF-1 with 265/40/17 because the tire is 'not recommended' for that wheel width and 17x9.5 is 'not recommended' for the vehicle.
ideas? i'm dropped on A-spec suspension (progress RSB) and have no intention of going lower.

If you want more lips then you can't get a wider wheel, and that is depends on what brand of wheel u go with. As my experience, DON'T pick Nitto's tire if you want your tire to be 245, because Nitto's 245 tire is bigger (fatter) than other brand....

and wheel design also plays a role as well. I am below +15 offset and still had to add a 3mm to clear my brembos.

thanks for the great input fellas! im really leaning into 18x9 (or maybe 9.5?) all around. what offset should i go with for the right tire size (not stretched) and a decent flush look?

i am willing to roll my rears to make it flush and lowered (but not tucked)

so would 18x9 or 9.5 with an offset of +25 would work all around?

and what's the ideal tire size of this type of wheel size?

thanks again guys! sorry for all the questions which i have a feeling might have been answered already.

im digging your setup!!! my car will actually look almost identical to yours except for the staggered setup. are your h&r's just springs or full coils?

hmmm def like ur idea, but im not sure if 18x9.5 +22 would be a little too much for the front.

to play it safe, maybe 18x9 +25 offset all around would be ideal?

FYI, we found a way to knock in the front camber on these cars using modified Skunk2 camber kits for TSXs.

coming from an rsx type-s with tein ss-p's, i'm really surprise with the lack of r&d support the 3g tl has after 4 years.

i'm new to all this stuff with the 3g and just wondering why is there such a small support for the car? like the pillowball mounts, i would buy another tein ss-p for the 3g in a heart beat.

The RSX is a "tuner car." It isn't so surprising the TL gets less attention...less people mod them

The SS are a great kit and when you order them with the Type-S top mounts on Heeltoeauto.com you get essentially everything that is good about the SS-P with a lower cost and slightly more comfort!

Another note....90% of the reason why Tein even makes an SS-P kit is because many cars cannot use an EDFC because the shock mounting height is too high. With a new pillow mount, Tein is able to lower the mounting height and make room for EDFC installation. The TL has enough clearance without an SS-P needed, so they never made one.

excellent input mrheeltoe. but from what i also understand, besides from its performance attributes, it also creates +/- camber for the front if you plan to tuck the front with wide tires. correct?

Incorrect. The upper pillow on a double-wishbone car such as an Acura TSX or TL will not impact the camber or caster angle at all. You need a strut-type configuration in order for the upper mount to have any adjust-ability for camber or caster.

I had an older post I just freshened up here on pillow mounts:
http://www.heeltoeauto.com/pitboard/?p=360

It doesn't really explain it, but it is something.

I've seen exactly the opposite with Nittos. Everyone told my my Nitto 255s would be a little narrower than my BFG 255s and they were right. The Corvette guys seem to automatically order the Nittos one size wider to make up for them being on the narrow size.

Maybe you are right but I am pretty sure I am not wrong too. Because my friend having 07 TL-s with all the same mod like me. Even the lowering height....1.4" all around. I got Nitto Neogen 245/40/18 and my friend got Falken (forgot what model) but same size like me.

I always rub when I go though a high bump (front two tires), and I can see that my front tires hit the front top fender and that black plastic cover....and that cover had a hole already( front top side....and my tires edge is totally rubbed .....my friend's car don't have any problem when his Falken....

And I am so angry because Falken is more cheaper than my nitto....and that stupid nitto mess up my fenders..!:angryfire

F19x8.5+15/215-35
R19x9.5+22/235-35

You can probably go down to 12 offset in the front.
i test fitted my 9.5s in the front so you can probably go 9.5/225-35 if you want too.

i would think that that would be the lowest offset you can run.
