Lowest offset 2004 TL can handle?

Just got some new wheels, they are 48 offset. They seem like they are in a bit too much. Factory is 45, right? They make the same wheel in a 38 offset. What are the issues of a lower offset. I dont want the ride quality comprimised and I dont want to hurt the car in anyway. What happens if I get the 38? Not real familiar with offsets and such.

does your TL have brembo brakes up front?

lower offset on wheels means that they'll stick out more and be closer to the fenders edge.

you'll be fine with a +38 so long as they clear the brembo brakes (if you have them).

Determining whether wheels will fit your car depends not only on offset but on width. Wider wheels and lower offset means that is more aggressive, coming out more.

17x8 +38 won't give you problems.
