I have a leased 2003 TL-S and just blew out one of those horrible michelins, and bubbled another, so the car is sitting in my driveway. I want to put on a wider tire, but I'm concerned about warranty issues. I've called two different Acura dealerships and gotten mixed stories. One told me to maintain the stock tire dimensions completely (215/50 17) or else if anything happens, the warranty is voided. The dealership i use said that as long as I maintain the same profile tire, then I'm fine, but anything else i risk having issues with the computer. My plan is to get wheels and then Continental ContiExtreme Contact in either 235/45-17 or 245/45-17. So here's my questions:

1) Any ideas about warranty issues in regards to different tires and/or wheels for a leased car?

2) Would a 45 profile tire be close enough to the stock for Acura not to have issues with it?

3) If I want to put on the 235 or 245 width tires, what size wheels would I need? I know the stock 17x6.5 have no chance of holding anything wider than 225 at the most. So between 17x7, 17x7.5, 17x8, what would work best?

4) What decisions should i factor in when deciding between 235 and 245?

I personally think that dealer is full of shiznit. Dealers are such hypocrits sometimes. If the stock tire size is so important, why do they sell certified 99 and 00 TL vehicles with 2002-2003 CL/TL wheels on it that the original owner put on it before trading it back in. The car shouldn't be certified then. Am I crazy for thinkin this way? They should put the stock 16" TL rims back on it before they sell it if it's such an issue.

You get the idea. I think if you got a tire that matched up to the stock height, you should be fine. The chances of you having a warranty issued that was caused by your tires would be very slim.

You want 17X8 minimum for 235 or 245. 17X8 is best for 235 and 17X8.5 is best for 245. For most tires that is, there are a few exceptions of course, but 17X8 is a safe bet, offset of +48 is great too...
