Koni Yellows with H & R Races Springs

Ok, so after some research on this website I've decided that the one after-market option I'd like to do is upgrade the suspension. I want to use the best components possible, but don't care too much for adjustability. I'm more than likely going to set it and then forget it. So onto my point.. What would be the best option for me?

I was looking at the tein basics and almost bought them, but then started reading more about a spring/shock combo. The Koni yellows with H&R race springs seems to fit my bill pretty well. I was looking at a couple different sites to purchase the Koni yellows from and the pictures and pricing seems to be different. There is a set on ebay that are over 700 called Koni yellow sport shocks then another set just called Koni Sport Shocks that are yellow but are over 100 dollars less. Are these the same? I just want to order the best there is for our car. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

There are two types of Koni Yellows and only two.

Koni Yellow Sport:
-Two adjustable perches in the front, three in the rear.

Koni Yellow SP3 (commonly known as "Neuspeed Koni Yellows")
-Five perches front and five rear.
-20mm shorter rod length than Sport.
-Slightly more aggressive valving than Sport.

So between those two which one is better? Or is it a matter of what their purpose is?

Also, do I need a camber kit to go along with this upgrade?

you should probably just get the neuspeed supercupkit and call it a day. its Koni yellows SP3 with sports/racing springs for 600 dollars.

and you will need a camber kit.

so for 600 I can get a better suspension set up than say 850 for the tein basics? Where can I get this camber kit, and if I jus twent with the teins would I still need the camber kit? I'm just trying to get the best quality suspension upgrade available.

IMHO, no.

Put the H&R with the Nuespeed Koni's if you want. Then sell the Nuespeed springs, BNIB.

Camber kit from www.heeltoeauto.com or www.excelerateperformance.com.

For the right Koni/Koni kit look for part numbers:

8041 1322 (L & R) = Fronts
8041 1329 = Rears

Performance-wise, I truly believe that the Neuspeed kit with race springs is hands-down the best out there for our cars.

Ok so I am going to go with the Neuspeed kit with sport springs along with a 24mm RSB from Excelerate (in addition to a camber kit). I'm pretty psyched to get this project under way but I had a quick question about the camber setting and the level of comfort. Can I adjust how firm I want the ride seperately from how low I want to set it (I'm thinking 2 and 2 front and rear)? What are you guys set at?

I didn't mean camber setting, I meant ride height my mistake. So what I'm trying to say is if I have the stiffness set to say 1.25 in the front and .75 in the rear and leave it at the standard sport spring 1.5" rear drop and 1.75" front drop, would the ride be firmer if I set the drop of the shock at 1 and 1 front and rear (2" rear and 2.25" front drop) or would it retain the same level of stiffness from before?

Ok, here are my 2 cents, my last car was and accord v65 6sp which had the Koni suprecup kit, I really had no complaints and the ride was good, only regret was that I did not lower the car to its the lowest perch to get rid of all the gap between the wheels, I have been debating about a suspension as well since I believe this is the most needed upgrade for our cars. I so far have settled for the H&R coilovers and here is my reasoning, any opinions will be apreciated. H&R seem to be priced much higher that all other suspensions with similar features (you get what you pay for?) also these seem to be popular with the German tuners for their M3 and M5's etc, if they engineer products for those cars you can bet they are very high quality. Also if you research Acura had a Tl in some type of endurance race car a few years back which ran with and H&R suspension on it, if Acura can trust these guys to develop and suspension that is more agressive than the A-Spec then it must be good, due to the fact that they collaborated on this project I would venture to guess that they had acess to better equipment, budget and facilities than if they were just developing a set on their own, by the way the kit is aobut 900-1000 with height adjustability but no firmness setings. Also I have not yet herd anyone complain about H&R but do on Teins and how they creak, opinions?

yeah and I thought the $400 quoted from sears was a lot...

$400 is the most I'd spend but even so I'd really like something less expensive. But I'm up in college and have no access to tools or the proper equipment so I'm basically screwed. And I trust my mechanically inclined friends who work on cars for a living but I also like the piece of mind of having some sort of legal entity to fall back on if there are any problems.

get ur mechanically inclined friends and their tools, some brew, some chicken, read a cpl DIY on here and grab some patience and do this urself!! you will save alot of money in the end AND you gain alot of confidence about doing things on ur car urself. out of the 3 cars i previosuly owned, the TL was the first suspension that i have ever swapped out TWICE...its not hard at all. my

this job is a breeze, if you have a little know-how and some hand tools.... its not hard though you may need an impact wrench to remove the top-hats. GL and I hope you choose to do this job yourself, it will really boost your confidence and give you an even greater sense of pride in your cars suspension..

If your using a screw type spring compressor you will need an impact, or high torque power tool to turn the screws. Personally I wouldn't do something like that by hand.
