just put 255/40/17 on oem tires

just put 255/40/17 on oem tires

i recently put on 255/40/17 on my stock tires and tell u the truth i dont know why but the ride is horrible...........car rides bumpy,u feel every pothole ........feels like your sittin on a wooden board........any help?i dont think the shock are gone already ......only have 30k

255 will give you that "empty air" feeling as you are wobbling/squishing. You should have gone with stock sizing.

Have you ever had 255's on a 8 inch rim before ?

In my case, my car with 255's handles much better than with the 235's.

Plus, the OP is saying that his ride is STIFFER, NOT "wobbling/squishing" (which is the opposite of stiff).

And, my 255's where stiffer in some ways than the 235's. But, I like the stiffer feel (more road feel).

Another thought. CHECK YOUR TIRE PRESSURE !!!!

Tire shops are notorious for not properly sitting tire pressure. You might have high pressure in your tires. Try putting 32 psi in front and 30 psi in the rear (cold). If your tires are warmed up, try 34 psi front and 32 psi rear (hot).
