Just Installed Tein SS and 19's...

Hi, I just had everything installed this week... I personally think the car is too low... However it does ride really well...

Does Anyone know if I will need to get another allignment if I raise it up a 1/4 inch??

Should I have any concerns of the bottoming out with people in the back seat??? Does anyone know how high the a stock TL measures from Ground to the edge of the fender?? I just went out and measured it and it is 25" on all for corners...

EASY!!! take it slow man...
I bottomed out going across the intersection (green light; 40 mph-ish) and I had a 2'' drop! those speed bumps are a pain too.

Looks great! I do believe that when you change the ride height, it throws the specs off for all wheels so an alignment would need to be done again at the new height.

Your drop most certainly looks good. You gotta get wider on those tires. How wide are they?

I like it like it is! i do think you would need to align it again if you raised it. if you keep it like it is you will really have to watch speed bumps. i scrape everytime that i don't pay attention..

nice job on the exhaust by the way!

The tires are Falken FK 452 , 245/35/19. I did a bit research before I bought that size of tire... If you look at it from the rear they look fairly large.. All in all I think it's perfect, but yes I will be bringing it up a 1/4...

For anyone that has a stock TL I did the following all at once.. And wow what difference......

AEM Cai
Outlaw Thermoblock spacer
UR Pulley
Custom Stebro catback exhaust
Tein SS coilovers
Comptech RSB
19 Axis Hiro / Falken FK 452 245/35/19

Doing the mods all at once makes it feel like completly different car...

You don't have to do alignment if you raise it just 1/4 inch.

I just installed my Tein SS over the weekend, and your ride height is right about where I'm sitting too. That's the setting listed in the instructions, and they specify 13" between the center of the wheel and the edge of the fender.

I agree though, this is a daily driver, and I'm definatley gonna raise mine another 1/4 -1/2 inch

Yes... however, it would depend on the offset of the 19" wheels...

your offset is a 35, right? These will fit? I have I guy that said that the Azul 18x8 Speedmesh wheels will definetely fit, but I have heard that if you don't get above a +45 then you will have problems. Is this true?

My offset is +45 and no rubbing. I was told if I wanted to go with 245's and go low I would need to go with a more conservitive offset..... Does anyone know what the stock ride height is from Ground to fender???

People are asking me how much the car has been lowered... All I know is that it sit's 25" from Ground to the bottom of the fender..

Say the wheel is the same Axis Hero's with +45 offset. Will these Hero's fit a 07 TL-S ?

Did you install the Tein SS coilovers yourself? If so how was it? How hard is it to adjust them? Do you jack up the car and use a wrench to adjust the Teins?

Yes they will fit an 07 TL-s, I believe +45 is the stock offset. However your TL-s wheels are only 7.5 " wide verus 8.5 on mine.

The suspension was installed by a shop here in town..

This is the first time he has installed a Tein suspension on a TL and mentioned it wasn't that hard. I believe it took 3 hrs start to finish.. with the set up of the ride height.. I would not suggest doing this in your drive way, it's way easier having the ability to bring the entire car up and down evenly at will...

JP TL-S, the Hiros are the only Axis rims that will clear the Brembo brakes. If you're going with 1" lowering, I'd go with 35 offset and either 235/35 R19 or 245/35 R19 tires. You should be OK and won't rub.

Bigtuck, stock TL and TL-S rims are 8" wide, not 7.5".

Thankyou very much 260 HP My user name is JD TL-S. And you answered what I was going to say 17"x 8"JJ. What do you think of Hankook tires??? I have always been Dunlop, BF Good, Bridgestone, Goodyear person. I really like the 5 Zigen Sports Engine SC 3000. But originally I was looking for a 5 spoke aggressive wheel like the Hiro. Then its deciding on a tire brand.

Oops, sorry for the typo...

JD TL-S, Hankook is probably in the same performance and value class as Falkens, Kumhos, General, and some others. I think they are affordable tires with OK performance and build quality. More like mid level performance tires.

If you want affordable tires, Kumho SPT, Hankook K104, General Exclaim UHP, Dunlop Direzza DZ101, Falken GR-B or ZIEX, Fuzion ZRi, and probably some more are in the same price level (approx between $125-175 per) for 245/35 R19.

I have Dunlop Direzza DZ101 in 245/35 R19. These tires are OK, wears nicely, and not too expensive. I have about 15k miles on them and from the tread depth, they should be able to go another 15-20k miles easily, if not more. They are kinda noisy, though. I also wish they would grip better.

My Bad on the stock rim width.. and I wasn't thinking about the Brembo's..

As for the tires I find the Falken's to be great compared to others I've had in the past. Great tread depth and not alot of road noise compared to my old Dunlop SP 9000..

Bang for the buck you can't lose...

Maybe it's the Drop and RSB but this thing handles amazing for a bigger car, I have to give some credit to the tires..

So I have the auto which is without the brembos...would I be able to fit a +45 offset and and 245 wide tire? They are 8.5" btw. I am on tein H-techs too.

Another question to is will my speedo change drastically at all or does that depend on the tire?

About Tein coilovers. I just talked to a shop in Naperville, IL. He said the Tein Basic is plenty for a daily driver. The Tein SS is for racing. The price diff is $713 vs. $950. Plus $280-$320 to install without aleignment. WHAT do I do? I want 1"drop, a good ride. I also asked about the height adjustment. EVERY time you adjust the height, you need another aleignment. This would cost a fortune! So getting adjustable must mean== Adjust to height you like, get an aleignment and LEAVE THEM ALONE???

I have driven the car now for about 1000Km's, I have had know rubbing at all what so ever even with 2 people in the back seat. I did drive very carefully though. The wheel and tire combo is perfect. So yes 45mm offset with 245 will work fine.

However I did raise the car up 1/2 inch all around. I will post picks later... It doesn't look that different and yes I had to get another alignment. It wasn't off by much but the alignment shop said that if I wanted maximize tire wear I should do it.

The car now sits 13" center of wheel to the bottom od the fender.. Approx 1 3/4 all around.

i got the same rims you got, and was planning to get some tein basic soons.... so you recommend 1 3/4 all around ... thats probably the lowest you can go huh without running into bottoming out/rubbing, etc.

you think i'd be save with around 2'' ? or was the 2.25 you had a big problem with passengers/ daily city/freeway driving

thanks man if you could give me some insight !

Bigtuck... 2 questions.

I installed a slightly used set of Tein SS's about the same time you did. Following the Tein directions, I measured precisely 1 inch from the bottom lock ring to bottom of the metal shank UNDER the threads, as specified on page 4 of the Tein SS installation manual:

http://www.tein.com/ti/inst/ka80u.pdf

What I found was that my ride height was about 12.4 inches, a little to low for my liking. These specs are based off "new"installs, and you probably lose 1/4 - 1/2 inch in spring settling over the first 10K miles.

I drove around like that for about 20 miles then pulled the wheels then raised the car to 1 inch of "thread", as shown in Peewee's DIY.

Got mt alignment done the same day, but now that I've measured again today, I find my front is at 13 1/4-5/8 and my rear is just at 13. I'm a bit pissed that I didn't check better before getting the alignment, but the difference isn't noticeable. I do plan to bring the back end up that 1/4 inch to match the front, I prefer the extra 1/4 of wheel travel and I hope that 1/4 helps my camber a bit. I hate to spend another $70 on an alignment though.

My alignment is showing -2.1 rear camber (Max spec is -1.5). I'm not enthusiastic about using a camber kit.

1) Are you experienceing any further drop as the springs settle?

2) What was your rear camber reading? Are you OK with it? or are you going to do a camber kit as well?

Quick Reply: Just Installed Tein SS and 19's...
