i thought you guys said i wouldn't need a camber?

So I went to Les Schwab today to get another alignment, but they said I needed camber kits Camber kits...UGH...quoted me about 674 + tax + install. I don't get how so many of you don't have camber kits and still run just fine?!?!! I went back up an inch all around; I'm not very low anymore! I'm going back to acura today to get another one...Les Schwab didn't even try...(no charge)

There goes another 80.00 bones...can anyone even help me?..

thanks,
eric

What were your alignment readings???? was it off in the front & the back??? This info is necessary...

I think they were just trying to make a buck on you buddy... is the camber kit they quoted was just for the rear or for both front and rear.... $674 for a camber kit (all four) is just rape...

Get us more info and we would give our opinion...

1) A full camber kit (4 corners) is around $200...install it yourself.

2) Go to Firestone and sign up for the lifetime alignment deal...$150 ($120 if it's on sale) and you get alignments for free for as long as you own the car...good at any (1000's) of corporate-owned Firestone's around the country.

^^ Thanks chill_dog. I received a similiar deal at discount tires for lifetime alignment on my 97 accord. Will check both of them out to see who is cheaper

1" drop is about the most you can get away with, without a camber kit.

Discount Tire does it, too? Good to know for my next car...will be shopping it then as you are now. So thanks right back at ya'. I've been pleased with the alignment jobs the Firestone I go to does (both my last car and my TL); I've also been pleased with the work Discount Tire has done for me with mounting and balancing my tires, fixing nails in tires, lose valve stems, etc. on the TL. Both have seem to have well-trained, professional staff.

If you mean handling that chamber is fine. It is out of factory specs, but so is the height. Who cares? It won’t cause any extensive tire wear, if you are concerned about that.

I drop my car about inch and 25 cents.....the rear camber is around 1.5 or so negative....and the fronts are like .9 or 1.0 negative....i dont understand people who use camber kits to bring they're camber back to factory specs....but want it to handle better??? if they jsut want to lower it....and not handle better...go for it...but negative camber handles way better in turns....to a certain extent....i wouldn't worry about the camber issue...you might eat some tires faster...but i heard the Neogen's from nitto or w/e have harder edges to reduce tire wear....due to camber issues....and what ever dealer you go to doesn't wanna do your alignment is a dumbass...ill take your 80 bucks...align it...and tell you its not gonna have any gurantee on it...and ship you out the door... Honda dealers have no problem aligning lowered cars with camber issues as long as the customer knows the situation of tire wear

They are not out by much. Seriously, set the toe and let it go. Watch your tires for excess wear, rotate often. If they fixed the toe to stock settings, you will be fine.

Read my article. Closely. You don't NEED a camber kit. It is optional based on personal preference.

BTW, $200 is not an accurate price either. Kits are sold individually. We have them for $75 a corner.

I have about a 2.5" drop and dont have a camber kit. Ive had it slammed like this for about 15k miles and my tires are still 95%+ thread left. I just had my toe aligned on dot.

I agree with Mrheeltoe & Slammed_JDM...

You really don't need a camber kit... just have the toe set to ZERO... and you're good to go...

I have a camber kit in the front and the rear... only because I wanted to set my camber to my liking... I currently have the front at -1 degree and the rear at -1.5 degree... and Toe at Zero... I have 6K miles and tires are still 95% good... I also go check my alignment every 3 to 6 months and rotate often... I run 20's just like Slammed_JDM...

$600 for camber kits is way too much. We sell Ingalls kits for $305 shipped for front and rear. Most 3rd gen TLers don't need the front kit, just the rear kit which is only $150 shipped. It includes 2 rear suspensions arms to do toe and camber.

i was pissed when i got my alignment after the sprins settled. 3.2 degrees negative camber on the driver's side rear wheel. i should have got the camber kit installed from the beginning it set me back $150 for the installation but i only paid $140 for Eibach/spc rear camber kit and i'm all in the green.

This might sound stupid question to some of u guys, but what is the benefit to set the toe to 0? I'm having installed the Koni and Eibach anf Ingalls rear kit this comming up Monday and I'll have an alignment on Wednesday. So, when I go for an alignment I should just say set the toe to 0?

The benefit to zero toe is zero funky tire wear!

I like to toe in just a smidgen....this helps keeps the car from wandering.

Just tell them to set it to stock.

yeah...True zero is hard to get....it always bounces around and changes when you go to tighten the tie rod's, i usually give it like 2-6 degrees in on each side...helps the car keep str8 setting it "in"
