I need help bad with wheels size
 

Hello,

I read these forums alot but never really post, but i'm going to be buying some rims for my 2005 Acura TL this month and have been trying to figure out what will fit my car.

I'm interested in buying these 20'' rims called Verde Kaos with Falken Tires, Some of my friends have been telling me they will not fit as the offset is to low (38) appearntly I need 45 or higher in the offset department. The Full specification i'm looking at are below

Size: 20 x 8.5
Bolt Pattern: 5 x 114.3
Offset: 38

Name Brand: Verde Kaos Black with Chrome Lip
Tire: Falken FK452, 245/35/20

Any assistance anyone could provide me would be greatly appreciated, I don't know much about wheels at all.

This thread will be moved. I had 19" & the ride sucked. Can't imagine 20's.

I highly suggest 19"x8.5" wheels with 245/35/19" tires.

The first TL I lowered was an 07 Type-S. I lowered it with JUST springs :( :( :(
I bought 1 piece forged VOLK RE-30's wheels that weighed only 17.5 pounds, I figured the VERY high quality of these VOLK wheels and being 18" that my ride would be pretty smooth
WRONG :( :( :( :( :( I couldnt STAND how it rode.

The next time I lowered another TL I had, I FINALLY LISTENED to suggestions and bought COILOVERS that had damping adjustment and height adjustment. Tein SS coilvers. Many diff brands of coilovers on this website that are great. You choose. I also bought HEAVY 19"x8.5" AXIS HIRO wheels. After adjusting the height I liked ( -1.75" front and rear)
Then adjusting the firmness of them (damping) I was AMAZED. It rode GREAT !!!!

So wheel size IS NOT the only reason a car can ride bad. Its suspension, and also what tire you buy. Some ride good, some ride BAD. Research and Taking Suggestions will help YOU ALOT. :) :) :)

By the way, You have GREAT TASTE in My Opinion :)

Stock offset on our cars is +45. A lower offset (38) just means the wheel will stick out 7 mm more from the hub. As long as you have the correct bolt pattern, which you do, those wheels will fit. If you have Brembos it's not quite so clear cut.

Also, stock wheel is 8", and the one you want is 8.5 so add another 6.35 mm to the 7 mm from the lower offset and the new wheel will stick out 13.35 mm more than the stock wheel. Still pretty conservative, so you'll be fine with a 245 tire.

On my 04 TL I have 20 x 8.5 with 245/30/30 Nitto Invo tires in the front (no brembo calipers) and 20 x 9.5 with 255/30/20 Nitto Invo tires in the rear and I can't remember the offset, but they are staggered. From having many sets of custom rims and tires, I suggest placing deep thought into your choice of tires. Here in Dallas, the roads are horrible and with 30 series tires, you can feel everything & I think it would be that way even with suspension work. Looks really good, but impact bubbles and pothole damage is too common.

I don't rub but its close .. and the ride isn't too bad but closer to rather firm and you do have to be careful of pot holes.

I got the wheels installed last few days ago, everything worked out fine. The ride comfort is great. The only time I can feel a difference is if I go over moderate sized pot hole, then your ass will hurt which I never really noticed before on my stock 17s.

I feel like the car lifted higher and but handling has improved immensely, cornering feels like a sports car now. i'll post pictures soon as i figure out how to get my facebook pictures on here. Everything worked out thanks again guys.
