I got a new set of A-specs.. but have some questions

Sorry for the newbie type of questions.

These are my new wheels (Sparkled silver with tpms):

Question 1.
How is the width of wheels generally measured? I know these come in 18x8 but when I measured from edge to edge I'm getting 9in??

Question 2:
How is the tpms sensor mounted? I thought that tpms wheels came in with some sort of a notch to fit the sensor just right. I don't see that in these wheels. The word tpms appears on the inside of one of the spokes so I know they are tpms compatible.

Last question.
The documentation that came with the wheels states that the low air pressure warning on the tpms system needs to be adjusted for the new wheels since the stock and a-specs are supposed to run at different psi's. Can this be done without taking it to the dealer?

thanks guys.

I don't have A-spec rim's, and not a knowledgeable in terms of size, but the way I see, the size of the rim is shown as it is, as for the TPMS, you have to buy the module and put inside the air valve. It's a black module.

Need to get

06421-S3V-A04 -- SENSOR ASSY., TPMS -- US$ 35.25 each set. And you'll need to get 4.

Try measuring from the insides of the outer wall and it is probably 8 inches.

I already have the sensors but I was hoping to see some sort of a natch on the wheel to secure the sensor.

I tried that but I didn't quiet get 8 inches. It was more like 8.5 and I know the only ones that come in that size are the gun metals..

Nice wheels, I have the same. The tpms sensors do not need to go into a "notch", the sensor side goes against the rim, the notches on sensor keep the chip away from the rim. You should have a shop that is qualified install the sensors when you put your rubber on. You don't want to over-torque the outside nut on the tpms (50lb if i remember correctly- but check first.) You'll know if the install is done right if after about 4-5 min your tpms start to read new pressure values.

Wheel width is measured between the inner lips, where they contact the tire beads.

I've read elsewhere that although marked 8", the A-Spec/Accessory wheels measure closer to 8.5".

Don't know personally, but what you have shown seems to support that.

I sure hope you mean 50 in/lbs??? Even that is too much. The TPMS valve stem nut is PLASTIC with a steel insert ... 3 ft/lbs per service manual.

Removal and installation of tires on TPMS equipped wheels is no big deal as long as the installer knows correct placement of bead breaker and tire iron when breaking and seating the bead.

Here's a pic of the TSX sensor, I'm pretty sure it's mounted with the sensor and valve coming form the inside of the rim and then the locking hat in the picture screws on from the outside.
