I am confused with 19x8, 8.5, etc. need help!

Friends husband (owns aftermarket business) offered several options and I would like the people here for their opinion.

1st Option:
18x8.0 all around with 215/35-19 Nitto

2nd Option:
19x8.0 front with a 225/35-29 Nitto
19x9.0 rear with a 235/35-19 Nitto

What do you guys think?

it helps to know what car you have and if it's lowered? so is the issue rubbing? if so, you will also need the offsets for each rim size before we can give you advice.

Info that Stan pointed out would be very helpful. However, you may as well scrap option #2. Why would you want to go with a staggered setup on a front wheel drive car? This removes any possibility of rotating your tires (at least front to back).

The suggestion on the staggerd look by Lawaia is well point out. You make a very good point since the 04 TL is a front wheel drive.

As for the offset, is that really necessary? I will be dropping my vehicle about 1-1.5 inches. Well enough to drive regularly and should not rub. I've read information on the offset from other site and it is still confusing.

I've visited an aftermarket store in Hawaii and one of the sales person pointed out to me that offset for that particular wheel (SSR Vienna Sovereign) shouldn't make too much difference and I shouldn't worry about it.

offset matters because this value will determine how far the wheel will be positioned in or out of the wheel well. don't forget road impacts that force the rim and tire into the wheel well - rubbing is definitely possible. or how about loading up your car with passengers or gear? although there is a range of offsets (for any particular rim width) that will "fit" your car, you still need to pick the most appropriate.

For that SSR wheel above, I would get 19x8.0 +49mm offset....At least that's what I'm getting for my SSR's...With 225/35 tires

i think 49 might be to much for an 04 tl 19x9 would be cool...if it would fit

you'd want to make certain the aftermarket's tire is about the same size with OEM, especially if you have navigation system. Here is a good site to compare your OEM Wheel with aftermarket part. Your closest match would be
245/35/19 assuming you have the right offset.

the 'perfect' offset for tl's is 48...19x8 w/ 48 offset
i good friend of mine just sold his tl
he had the same mes. i just gave and he had the neuspeed race springs.{(2.25 and 2.5)or something like that} he said it rode like stock over speed bumps and everything...it wouldnt scrub because the 48 offset just barely tucks under the wheel well

ps. he even rode around 5 deep a lot and it still didnt scrub!!!

Nice wheels chioce BTW.....I just received them about 3 weeks ago for my 00' TL. Unfortunatley winter has struck here in NJ so I won't be mounting them til Spring time.

I got 19x8 +49 offset in the super chrome finish.

If you have an 04 TL I would definately chose a wider rim and a lower offset.

Lightbeing, what size tires are you going with? 225/35/19 or 235/35/19? If you don't mind me asking, where did you order your Sovereigns and how much did you pay? Please PM me if you do not wish to disclose this info on this particular thread. Thanks.
