jerzydevil609 .. looking good! :thumbsup:Let us know where you end up with the settings for front & rear for the V2's.

preciate that faceman!! question for everyone... did everybody just twist em to all the way soft and then start counting clicks? like i said before, i didnt mess with the dampening when i installed it, and its pretty soft now... i went and looked at the backs real quick (seat is still off) and it twisted both ways which makes me think it might be in the middle somewhere...idk... i'll mess with it today when i get off and report back...

also, my 4 inches was from the bottom of the spring holder rings where we all measured from to the red cup twisty thing, not to the ring sitting on top of it where everybody else measured to, so mines really 4 inches minus the thickness of the ring just to clear it up... not a big difference, but hopefully that wasnt too confusing..

jerzydevil609 01-11-2012 08:42 AM

... question...

for the front coils, (v2 type 2) i'm tryina adjust the dampening, but the knob and the lil gold piece with a bunch of holes its connected to aare both loose and dont click... i can spin them independently as well... am i supposed to tighten the gold piece with the holes independently of the red wheel and then adjust the red wheel? or keep em both loose, twist the red knob all the way lose then start counting clicks then tighten it down with the gold thing?

it doesnt seem to click or when the gold part is tightened... idk if that made any sense at all but hopefully somebody can help me out... also put a email out to marcus at HT, but figured id share this in case somebody else was confused... the backs seemed to twist just fine, but i didnt really mess with those yet... thanks everyone for the heads up!!

Yeah. Tighten the gold piece with the holes with a pliers. Just make it snug. Don't over tighten. If you get no clicks or it just spins after doing that your knob may be bad.
I never got a "positive" click when turning mine towards the Hi or firm side but could feel the clicks when making the damper softer.

thanks faceman!!! i appreciate the help!!

I took the recommended settings from Heeltoe and went a little lower. I haven't adjusted it. Just installed it and loved the height it's at.

COILOVER TYPE: Type 1

FRONT
Preload - 8"
CtC Spacing - 3 3/4"
Wheel Gap - 1 finger
Damper Clicks - N/A

REAR
Preload - 8 3/4"
CtC Spacing - 4 1/2"
Wheel Gap - 1 finger
Damper Clicks - N/A

Ride Quality - Firm on decent streets. Pretty harsh going over bumps. Uncomfortable at times but it's a good solid feel imo. Passengers probably won't like it.

Marcus revised those settings. Preload should be 7.5 inches not 8. Out of the box they are 8in. I too noticed the ridiculous banging when hitting any average size bump. Shock is bottoming out. Marcus said making that 1/2in preload adjust will significantly help. I'm in the garage adjusting that now. :2cents:

1/2 of more preload is going to soften things up a bit? Sounds counter intuitive...

Check ebay for Ronjons...they are going for pretty cheap!

Indeed it does. But that is what I was told an hour ago on the phone by Marcus. He said I was thinking about it backwards.

Interesting. So did you notice a softer ride after adjustment? For some reason it seems to me raising the preload that 1/2 inch to a total of 7.5inches instead of the claimed 8 would make the ride firmer thus keeping you from bottoming out. Please clarify your results as maybe I'm over thinking this and confusing myself:ugh:

Yeah, he told me about it when I picked them up but I never asked how it affected ride height. I'll mess around with it some other time but right now, I have no problems with it.

Never thought of checking eBay. If I can pick up a set for $800, I'll be happy.

7.5inches for just the front or all 4? If just the front then do the rears stay at 8 3/4?

He told me just the front, didn't say anything about the rear. You'll be fine leaving the rear at 8 3/4"

Sweet, thx for the reply! Starting my install in the AM

pinina 02-11-2012 10:00 AM

So what is the differance between the type 1 versions 1&2 that has no adjustments?

Mondo375 09-01-2012 08:33 AM

I know there's more set-ups out there! Re-adjusting mine hopefully today.
