How to store seasonal wheels/tires

I just bought a second set of wheels and tires for seasonal swap.

Since I've never done this before, I would like some advice from those of you that also swap your shoes out twice a year. How and where do you store the off-car wheels? What are the best practices?

Are there any preparations that should be done prior to storage?
Do you keep them in your garage/basement? Which is better and why?
Do you wrap them in anything?
Horizontal or Vertical?
Release air pressure or leave them fully inflated?

I dont do this but I think....

1: No
2: Is say garage and basment, a nice cool place so they dont dry out and crack
3: Id say cover all with a sheet
4: Horizantal. So you dont get flat spots
5: Not sure. maybe deflate them a lil.

Basement more constant temp, rather than a hot garage.
Wrap them in large plastic bags and seal tightly.
Horizontal on wooden pallet, or wood strips but not on ground, 2 high max.
I inflate to a few pounds over the normal operating pressure to allow for some air loss.

I've also stored tires/wheels vertically with no problems.
