How does it drive with 19"/18" wheels vs stock??

For those of you that already have 19"/18" rims - can you comment on how good/bad/soso the TL drives after switching to 19"/18" wheels. I have done alot of research and like the way the 19's look but I'm a little worried about the ride when I see the size of the sidewall on 245/35/19. I just picked up a 2004 with 30K miles and it needs new tires so if I'm making the change it's going to be now. I live in southern california and the car will be on the freeways alot - between 18k and 22k per year. Any comments from those of you with 19's or even those of you with 18's???? Thanks in advance.

it all depends on the tire size you go with, I opted to go with 18" wheel with a 8.5 width, 245/40-18 tires, to preserve the luxury ride, it handles ten million times better than stock, but that is only because the stock tires are bubble gum garbage...

with the kind of miles you are putting down I would suggest you opt for the highest treadwear rating you can get... good luck on your choice

18" good sized sidewall
19" sidewall is slightly smaller than the 18" (you could honesly mess with it and go 245/40-19)

17 in - can take the pothole & winter, softest ride

18 in - best performance

19 in - best looking rim, avoid potholes, take off for winter, lose some ride softness

20 in - Gangster Ballin'!

What're you rolling on Ray. I'd peg for a Gansta Baller, but thought you had 18's or 19's?

i would suggest to get 18's and lower it an inch that way you will have sportier and stiffer suspension, and better rim protection with 40 series tires.

With larger rims you are hurting your acceleration and braking too. Reason is higher moment of inertia even if weight is same. If they are heavier and they usually are, than you loose even more.
