High Perf Tire option from Acura
I just filled out the paperwork to order my TL 6spd nav this morning (see other thread). I was wondering if anyone has purchased the high performance summer tire option from Acura for $200. I live in the Chicago burbs so know I would have to buy a set of snow tires for the winter, but that would be fine. Better than dropping a grand on a good set of new tires once I find out the all seasons are just mediocure.
Anyone order them? If so, what brand are they?
I tried to do a search on this topic, but it just kept coming up with other tires people purchased on their own.
Thanks!

My 04 TL came with the HPTs although I wasn't all that impressed with them. Put about 15k on them and then threw them out when I put my snows on (Dunlop Wintersport M3s). In a few weeks, I'm putting on the Falken st-115s.

I also purchased the HPT tires on my '04TL. By the time they had 3000miles, I had enough of their louzy performance, and noise. As luck had it, I hit a piece of metal in the sidewall and ruined one tire so I sold the other 3 and purchased 4 Michelin PS-2's. They are all the tire a TL needs....to put it in other words...just awesome! They are excellent tires and I'm 100% satesfied with them. They are quiet, predictable, and dont' squeal going around turns. The stick like glue, and when they do let go, they give the driver a lot of feedback letting you know what's about to happen. Very predictable tire to say the least. They're the best tires I've ever owned...and are NO comparison to the HPT's Accura puts on the TL.

One on the right for me
I was considering the HP tire option when I was buying my TL but opted against it. The bad EL42's are very expensive, and the HP upgrade adds even more cost to the TL. It seemed to make more sense to drive the hell out of the EL42's and then purchase a set of HP tires from a local tire shop. You most likely will save money in the long run because my RE750's outperform the El42's and cost less, whereas Acura wants to charge you additional money for HP tires.
I dont know what tires Acura puts on with the HP option, however, so I could be wrong if it turns out they are great tires at an even high price, although I would still recommend buying tires from an independent shop.

In Canada If you buy the 6MT it comes with 'high performance' summer tires. I think they were Bridgestone Potenza RE050A. When I picked up my car I drove straight to a Tire shop and I paid 300 cdn for hankook winter tires including mounting and balancing. I guess they paid about 550 for my stock tires. Now that summer is around the corner I'm thinkin of getting the Hyper black Aspec 18's. I heard that the stock potenza's sucked and thats why i made this trade.
