Help with uneven drop!
I dropped my 08 with an Eibach Pro Kit and have Koni yellows. Everything drives and rides great. Front wheels are perfectly even height. However, there is about a 1/4-1/2" difference on my rear passenger side compared to rear driver side.
I swapped out the rear systems to see if it was a faulty spring or shock, but the gap is consistent, so I know that's not the case. I had a camber kit installed and alignment done at the dealership, which is when I really first noticed the gap (much more noticeable than before camber). From the look of it, the driver side wheel has a little more negative camber than the passenger. Any chance the alignment/kit is uneven, and if it is, will that cause the problem with my drop height? Any other ideas what it may be? Thanks! |
^You may have that one side perch level up one from the other side.? What perch level all around? I don't think the allignment kit would effect your drop, but I am no expert.

Yeah, perch is the same all around. I swapped out the rear springs and shocks to confirm. They're identical. Can't figure out what else it may be, unless the TL is just naturally heavier on the driver's side.

I already did and it stayed the same, so it has to be something with the control arms or the camber kit of that side.

maybe you should just give it time to settle

I'm having the same issue with my 04. I just installed ht spec 1 coilovers and I measured them equally before installing. Now my passenger side sits a little higher than the driver side. The question is do I leave it as is or do I raise the driver's side only?

I personally think it is a camber issue. When I originally installed my coilovers, I had no camber kit. As we all know with the tl, once it is lowered, you get alot of negative camber on the rear. Once i finally did get my camber kit installed, and got an alignment, the rear looked higher to me. I guess what im trying to say is that one side of your rear may still have some negative camber.

After the camber kit is installed, you should only have about a half of degree of negative camber just from the weight of the car. I guess this also depends on how low you are. Your kit may not have been adjusted correctly.

^ I just slapped the camber arms on so it is highly likely they are uneven.

Id get a professional alignment if I were you.

So my question is, do I leave all the coils on the same measured height and the alignment will correct the uneven with the adjustment of the camber? I would hate to pay twice for an alignment.

If you measured them correctly and they are all at the same perch, you should be ok. The only thing i can tell you from experience is that, like I said before, When I first lowered the car (without the camber kit), the wheels where more tucked in. Once I installed the kit and the camber was adjusted, I was not happy with how the rear looked. There was a little more gap between the tire and the body for my liking.
