Help with Tire Selection for Rims

Hi,
I just got a 2006 TL Automatic. Its the A-spec version, so it came with the body kit, and a drop of .5 or 1 inch drop (not sure).
I m thinkin of gettin some 18inch rims, the specs are as follows:
Size: 18"x7.5
Bolt Pattern: 5x114.3
Off Set: +42mm
My questions are:
1) Will these rims fit on my TL without rubbing?
2) What is the best tire size because I have no idea what 235/45/17 refers to.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thnx

The rims specified are very close to A-Spec wheels. Just half an inch shorter in width. It should fit. You may want to go to a shop and do a test fit before buying them. The tire choices for 18" are 235/40/18 or 245/40/18.

I thought the brembos came with the MT only. Or are your brakes aftermarket?

Tire sizes won't really matter with wheel fitment. The 245 will have a slightly higher sidewall than the 235. I am running with 245/40/18 on a 18x8.5 wheel. With the offset of 42 and 7.5 rim, I don't think you're going to clear the Brembo brakes. The rim has to be at least 8 inches wide. Definitely do a test fit if you can with any prospect wheel. I believe stock A-Spec wheel is 18x8(and 18x8.5) and 45 offset(correct me if wrong). Looks for something similiar to these measurements. The spoke design can play a factor also-it may hit the brakes.

Thanks, so looks like I wont have a problem with the tires. But disppointed because the rims I had my heart set on are 18x7.5. Was wondering if you are 100% sure they wont fit or there might be a cahnce they fit.
Thanks

I tried on some Volk wheels that are 17x7.5 42mm. I wanted the wheels but the wheels did not clear the Brembos. If I had an automatic (without brembos) , it would have fit. I do not feel that the wheels you're interested in will clear the brembos . The best thing to do is go to a tire/wheel shop and try on some wheels that are the same specs. You can also call Tire rack. They're really helpful with the "fit " issue. They try on wheels on different cars to verify fitment.
