HELP! - Stripped Lug Lock Nut No Room To Get In To Remove

Hello, I have an 04 Acura TL with Konig wheels, today I went to autozone and grabbed some lug locks, by dorman, which I knew probably wasn’t the best idea but I went for it anyways. So I went to torque the first one and I felt it slip and I was like uh oh that’s not good, let me take this off. And nope, not coming off. Completely stripped. No room to get in there to get an extractor on it. So I need some reccomendations on how to get this damn thing removed. I don’t want to damage my wheels. Can I go in through the back of the wheel and grind the head of the stud off and bang it through? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m anxious as hell hoping I didn’t completely screw myself. That is the rear wheel, right? If so going for the back of the stud won't work. No idea if front is any better thought.

How tight is it? Because if it's not very tight, I would try to get it out with pointy chisel. Something like:

Just angle it so when you smack it with hammer, it will go into the nut, and slightly rotate it.
If it slips too much, either make chisel more pointy with the grinder/sand paper, or try drilling small hole in the nut where chisel can rest.

Well that's what you get for buying cheap parts. If you won't be able to remove it, at least nobody will steal your rims, right?

Yes that is the right rear wheel, and yep I should have known not to buy them. Fu**. So I can’t get to it from the back? So given my shituation, to what extent do I have to go to, to remove this without damaging the wheel? I wonder if I drilled a hole in it and used an extractor if that would work. And I probably torqued it over spec as I usually do. Lol

Back won't work, as the rotor is pretty deep and parking brake is on the way.

Try chisel idea, if it doesn't work then you can try drilling. Those nuts are cheap, so likely they are made of some shit soft metal. Just use some oil/wd40/pb to not ruin the drill bits.

If you want to avoid fubarring your wheel...
take it to a wheel shop and have them drill it out...you'll need to plan to replace the stud after, but it could be a good time for extended stud install. :tomato:
and get a torque wrench...that way you can gauge how tightly you are torquing things down.

Thank you very much for all the replies! Do you think that a tire shop would be able to get that off? And where can I find extended studs for this that are good quality? I deff need them because I probably only have 5 or so threads that stick out when the wheel is on, I do have extended thread lug nuts on there though. I’m losing my mind thinking the worst is going to happen and screw up my wheels. Lesson learned for sure. The lug nut is just so far recessed into the wheel and with no clearance around the nut and the wheel it just seems like it’s going to be thought getting that out of there. Thank you all again!

I mean I have a little bit of expertise I’d say, I went to automotive school at porter and Chester and also went for diesel tech at lincoln tech. So I do know a bit. I’ve always had a passion for cars and working on them, but I may have just got myself in a tight situation. I could get it off I’m sure, just seeing what everybody suggests I do. Gracias

I had a stripped out wheel lock and took it to Discount Tire. They said they remove them all the time. Charged me $8 to remove and took them about 15 minutes. No damage to wheel or stud.

mechanics and tire shops have a kit that can bite into the bad wheel lock and remove it

Update! I got the lug and stud out! So I took the plastic wheel center cap off and was thinking I could just take the spindle nut out and get to the back of the wheel to get the stud out that way. I ground out the metal “hub” cap covering the spindle nut, then loosened the nut and took the caliper and bracket off. From there the wheel/rotor/hub just pulled right off with a bit of persuasion. Then I went through about a million drill bits trying to find one that would not break or would drill through the stud. After about 45 minutes of that I took a punch and a 5 lb hammer and smacked it right through with no problems. Installed a new “dorman” stud, even though that’s the brand of the nut I had the problem with. Ignorance. Lol. Put everything back together no problems. Glad I could get it off.
