Has Anyone Replaced Their Tires Over The EL 42's?????

Since their has been so many complaints about our Bridgestone Turanza EL 42 tires, has anyone replaced them with another All season High Performance tire ???? If so, what tire and how much did you end up paying and how would you rate your new tires over the EL 42's????

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.

My out of pocket (after a good will compensation from my dealer) was $200.

I had traded my Bridgstone for Falken's 512 and paid the difference of $360 US$$ for all 4 at a tire shop. I must say these tires are 5 times better then our EL's. They hug the road much better and corner so much better without the tire screeching and body roll. I feel like the car has a stiffer/sportier suspension b/c of the tires. Very impress so far and well worth the $$ spent for these treads. Highly recommended for ppl who is looking to get rid of their EL 42's.

After I rec'd the "new" EL-42s from my dealer, within a week or so I upgrded to the LS-Zs for about $235.00 total w/ tax, out the door. These are some of the best tires I have ever owned - fantastic in the rain. They are the antithesis of the El-42s.

Talking New Turanzas Now On Car

Just got back from swapping out my EL42 series tires. I went to a Firestone company owned store and explained my problem. I even gave copies of some of the comments made here. They put on new Turanzas which were the Z rated series. I went out for a spin and WOW!!!! They are so much smoother and make all the difference. Do not know about cold weather but was VERY satisfied with the end result. I talked to some other owners who put on the Michelins and were not too impressed with the result. To add insult to injury they paid to switch and mine was an even trade.

Pirelli Pzero Nero M&S make a great tire. I've driven them all around LA during the rain storm. No problems at all, and they are nice and quiet on dry pavement. Went through Tire Rack and paid $50 at a local shop to mount and balance.

How much did you pay for the Pirelli Pzero nero for?? And did you change it b/c of the poor quality tire EL 42's or was it just time to change the tire due to tire wear?

I got rid of mine for Pirelli P-Zero Nero M&S. Paid 150 a tire, which included mounting, balancing, tax and Discount Tire's road hazard warranty

I bought my Pzero's for $127 each at Tire Rack. I think shipping was something like $35. My EL42's were not at the wear bars yet, but their performance in the rain was so bad, I had to replace them. I didn't spend much time wondering; after the first rain storm it was clear they weren't adequate for weather. Their dry pavement performance is great, too.

I think ppl should swap out their EL 42's for something better like the Toyo proxie4/Falken 512s/Pirelli Pzero so they can really enjoy the TL's ride much more and have the performance that the TL is capable of handling. Plus don't forget safety which is very important too. I was so suprise how much better my TL handles now in the corners and stability of the ride itself with my Falken 512's in dry/wet/snowy weather. I am not trying to promote Falken tires or what but upgrading does make quite a signaficant difference. I didn't think it would make such a difference but it has.

thank you

thank you. i have a silver tl with around 17.5k miles. it was at the dealer a few months ago for the 2nd gear recall issue and i asked them about the vibration and they couldn't give me a "good" answer. about a month ago the front left tire went flat b/c of a small screw and the discount tire folks in solana beach, ca told me that i needed new tires all around. at ~16k miles?!?!? i put it off until this morning when my wife caught another bolt in the street. instead of going to costco or discount tire i found this forum and spent an hour or so reading posts. in the end i ordered four (4) new Falken 512s from gil at discount tire in poway, ca. ~500 out the door. he asked why i wanted this tire and i pulled out a thick stack of pages i printed from the site. not sure how i'm going to deal with the bridgestone issue. b is going to point to a, a is going to point to b and a&b are going to point to me. we lost our leverage when we drove-off the lot last year. note to forum, "call-out your wheel / tire combos before you sign your check when you buy the car".

I had enough of the EL'42s. They were way too slippery I find in wet weather. So I traded them in after 3500kms which probably works out to be 2700miles. Now I have the Hankook H405 tires. They look sportier than our EL's plus they handle and response much better now. Now I feel more secure driving my TL.

I complained about my el42 tires the first week I had them, after the annoying flat-spotting and horrible wet road performance - dangerous to say the least! Shame on Honda/Acura engineering.

Anywho, they said it was a poor batch, in terms of the flat-spotting, and they replaced them with new el42's ...well, I had them slap winter tires on (Dunlop M3s love 'em) and took the brand new el42 set home. I plan on selling them on eBay and looking for new tires now for summer.

I am buying a-spec wheels today and plan on the PZero Nero, Ecsta or Contis (245/40/18) for the 18" rims.

Still baffled at why they would put such crappy tires on such a nice car ... TIRES ARE SOOO IMPORTANT!

The EL are crappy tires and the worst part is you would have to pay over $275 for one at the tire shop everywhere you go. Way too expensive for crappy tread like that!!
