H&R issues.......help!!!

Here's the issue.....I bought some used H&R coilovers that came off of a TL-S to replace my Tein Basics. I installed the front coilovers with no issues, but had trouble with the rears. The shock was hitting the sway bar end link preventing the assembly from being mounted in place.

As you can see the Teins are narrower than the H&R's.

You can see where the shock is hitting the end link.

Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone have a solution or am I stuck?

What if you disconnect the endlink then mount the coilover then reconnect the endlink. Would that make a difference? Looks like that coilovers does not give any clearance for the endlinks like the Teins do.

I know others with our chassis have done the "washer trick", which is stacking some washers between the bracket and the endlink, moving it further away from the shock body. Hard to tell if that's a solution in this example, but try it out.

I would disconnect the endlink, install the shock bolt, then go from there whether the endlink will rub. I disconnected mine from the start (a side at a time) when I was installing my Tein springs.

Dunno if that'll help but it's worth a shot.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! I'm actually going to take it to a local honda shop today to get it done. They assured me that it can be done. Most likely the methods you mention. I would try to do this myself, but at a time constrains since I have to get an alignment after to go out of town tomorrow. Thanks again guys!

Because my Teins were on their last leg, I wanted to try a different brand, members with the H&R's praises them, I found a member selling them locally......

I was going to get the Tein SS, but didn't feel the need to adjust the dampering that often enough to justify having them.

I would recommend buy them brand new. They were not bad at all. My first set lasted around 80k before the dampering was not as responsive.

Just got my H&R coils installed today, 95 degrees wiht 90% humidity gawd...

They ride great, i was really expecting a rougher ride but couldn't be happier, Make sure to install the washers. They didn't come with my kit, had to call and have them shipped..

I can't believe how low you can go on these things, i think i'm dropped a lil too much because its a bitch trying to not scrape around town. Going to have to adjust when its not so hot outside.

Post a review once you get them installed, interested to see how they compare with the teins.

H&R are on!!!!

The shop got the rear coilovers on with no issues. They left the wheels on during the install which probably helped alot.

The ride is much better; feels like the first time I installed the Tein coilovers brand new. I also have the TL-S tophats and bushings on as well. Can't tell if it made much of a difference, but still enjoy the ride. My only complaint is my fenders are rubbing in the rear. I need to roll my fenders again or raise the back up half an inch.

So far so good; and I'm very satisfied!

BTW I will try and take some pics tomorrow.

Left the wheels on while on a lift was able to push the shock into place. Just needed the right tools for the job.
