Got 20's - Offset Calculator

Recently came across a wheel offset calculator,

http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

So for all of you with 20's, can you confirm this tool is accurate? I am sure it will help many of us in wheel selection.

For example I am looking into Foose Speedsters and according to this tool, a 20x8.5 with 45mm offset sticks out 6mm, when compared to a stock wheel. And a 20x8.5 with 34mm offset sticks out 17mm (approx 0.7 inches). Any of this make sense?

Thanks in advance.

Not really but thanks for the calculator. I just like you am also looking to put 20's on my car but I really don't want to do any cutting and fender rolling if that's possible. I'm sure that dropping the ride height is also a must or the wheels will look goofy. keep us posted on your findings please!

As a general rule, you want the offset of your new wheels to be as close to the stock offset as possible. Otherwise you can affect your cars handling. The TL stock offset is 45mm, and a wheel with a 41+ mm offset should suffice. The width of the wheel also affects the offset, so you want to stay within 8-9 inches. Also, lowering the car may also affect the offset, but with 20's, you wouldn't be lowering that much if you did, so I don't think it applies. Finally, if you have souped-up brakes (eg. Brembo), ensure the offset of the wheels provides brake clearance.

The calculator above does not consider the tires that will be mounted on the wheel, it gives you the raw wheel measurements. So, if you go with a wider tire (eg. 255/XX/XX), then this measurement is completely false because your tire sticks out further then your wheel. Since I am planning to lower my car, I will go with NT555 235/35/20 all around (on 20x8.5).
