FYI - OEM tires on 2006 TL A/T

I was gathering some info about tires from archive and there was some one (back in 2004) that found out how crapy OEM tires Acura installed on 2004 models.
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...5&page=1&pp=40

This is what I have on my wheels, Michelin Pilot HX MXM4, take a look at the below link...

So are you looking to buy new tires or something?

And your point is??

Just be glad you have the MXM4s (Navi cars) and not the Turanza EL-42s (non-Navi cars). The MXM4s are apparently a much better tire than the original EL-42s, which were reformulated for 2005+ (and I suspect the Michelins are better than even the reformulated EL-42s as used on the TL).
Once you decide to replace the tires, you can decide from a plethora of replacement options discussed here.

I have a related question. Was going to start a new thread but may as well ask it here.

I have an '06 TL A/T with 46K miles, and still have the original MXM4s on it. I'm due (well, overdue) for new tires, and was all set to pull the trigger on a set of Yoko Advan S.4s based on recommendations here, tirerack, discount tire, etc. But before I do, I was just curious, why the hate for the MXM4s? Is it really that bad a tire? Is it the price? Or is there a bit of herd mentality going on, as I've noticed the same handful of tires getting praise over and over again?

As I said I don't have much of a frame of reference as the MXM4s are the only tires I've ever had on my TL, but they've treated me fairly well, and have lasted longer than expected. Are tires like the Yokos or Bridgestone RE960 really that much better?

Yeah I've seen all those. Didn't read every post but enough to get the gist. The thing is, I disagree with almost all of the criticism I've read about the MXM4, based on my personal experience. Road noise has been decent, and handling has been very good. And as I said I got 45K+ miles out of them, much more than I expected. Granted I live in SF so no snow to deal with, but they've handled fine in the rain the last couple winters.

So again, I'm curious how much truth there is to these survey results. The only thing I can think of is that people are hung up on price, or it's possible those other tires really are significantly better than the Michelins?

Has anyone had both the MXM4 and one of the above tires on the same car, and can do a proper comparison?

No need for Google- this thread seems superfluous since there are a number of threads here on AZ, one of which you linked, regarding the OEM and optional tires.

Glad you're using the "search" function, as there is a wealth of info here.

This is a good question, but if I asked you how much truth is in yours, what you'd respond?
No offense, you are free to use any source of information you want, but you know what I mean?

This is funny cause it seems you do trust acurazine when it comes for tire reviews but not tirerack which is more than beautiful.

Anyhow, you raised a good question, I am interested especially in Yokohama ADVAN S.4, has anyone put these on?
