Front lower balljoint issue

I’m doing a Lowery ball joint on driver front of my 05 tl and I’ve gone through three ball joints now! For some reason with the new balljoint in the castle but won’t go all the way up and tighten, so there is a lot of play, does anyone have a suggestion to fix this issue? Also the last balljoint I bought was from Honda dealer?

there is a metal sleeve that presses into the lower control arm, where the ball joint attaches.

Is it present?

Or did you throw it away with the original ball joint you replaced?

Do you remember the old joint being a lot "fatter" than the new one?

Is the hole in the LCA a lot bigger than the ball joint stud?

If so....you need a sleeve since you tossed the old one.

I'm pretty sure acura sells the sleeve seperately

Have you tried just comparing the side you're working on to the other side?

no worries.

since you're new at this...

-Only use a genuine acura/honda joint.
-Only use the original Acura/Honda nut
-Follow the torque specs and procedures in the Acura shop manual.

Yup, that ought to do it. Thanks to BRO for zeroing in on the issue. Sometimes, "What's this extra part for?" is a smart question.

well would a 2005 accord ball joint be the same as the 2005 tl ball joint?

Does it have the same part number?

bernardiparts.com

Again...re-use the factory Acura TL nut for the ball joint. No substitutions.

they wouldnt sell the sleeve seperately, in fact they had no idea what I was talking about but I bought a whole control arm for $110 so that should fix the issue

They?

I mean...we kinda already know that whomever is working on the car doesn't know about the sleeve. Or you wouldn't be in this predicament.

Did you check to see if the Accord and TL use the same ball joint part number?

Hopefully your new control arm comes with it.
