Front camber kit install??

I hope this is in the right spot on the form. I have an ingalls front and rear camber kit. The rear is way easy but the front looks a little strange to me. I see the top ball joint and it says you need to remove the oem balljoint and replace it with the camber kit.
I am wondering if anyone has any pictures of there install. If so plase post them here if you can. I am going to have the alignment done in the morning so I was thinking, it might be easier for the shop to install it and adjust it at the same time?
As you can see, this is my first intall of a camber kit so any help would be great. Thanks guys in advance.

You will need a ball joint separator and ball joint press. You can rent them at your local Autozone or auto parts store. Sorry no diy so I can't help you how to remove it. The tools are a must have for the removal.

the proper tools and knowing what you are doing is a must on the fronts!
Let the alignment shop do it so you dont damage your brand new parts.
Sounds like you already got the rears done by yourself- unbolt- replace- rebolt-
It helps to measure the distance/length of the stock rear arms and set the new ones close to that with the adjustment via the threaded shaft.
Faster to get it aligned when its already close
Have them leave a little NEGATIVE camber, maybe half a degree, for improved cornering turn-in response

**I am not responsible for any injuries or damages if you break anything. Go to a professional if you feel this is too hard for you. I did front camber kit install twice with no problems**

Let me see if I remember off the top of my head...

(picture for reference of parts)

Parts list

First you jack up the car, put it on jack stands, and remove the front wheels.
-remove the cotter pin(19),*throw away do not reuse*
-remove the nut(13)
-use ball joint separator(read instructions on how to use it) and stick it between the upper control arm(5/6) and knuckle(2/3)---what you have to do here is to separate the stock camber ball joint from the knuckle. (I don't remember this part exactly but I think this is how I did mine. You might want to double check.)
-next is to remove the upper control arm(5/6) by removing those two flange bolts(12)
-now that you remove the control arm with the stock camber ball joint, it's time to use the ball joint press to separate that ball joint from the control arm. read the instruction of the ball joint press for how to.
-install the new front camber kit as instructed and put everything back together.
-install new cotter pin(avail at auto parts or hardware store)
-repeat on other side
-get alignment and have them adjust the camber kit to proper degree.

If I did any of these steps incorrectly or miss any detail, please feel free to correct me.

This is why I love this site!! I was looking at the ball joint last night on the car and saying "How do you get that out the right way, tool or no tool." You have answered it for me. Thanks for the diagram and great instructions.

If anyone does do the install and has taken picture, I would still love to see them. I am sure I am not alone in this as there are other people out there with the same questions. Thanks again

So here are the pictures of the Ingalls kit front and rear before the install. I will take the rest of the pictures of the install process of the fronts when I get them in.

I think he wants the camber to be the same in the front and rear... meaning like both fronts at -1 and both rears at -.5... nothing wrong with that...

Yes I do.....No need especially at this time to drop about 300 bucks on something I don't need. I drive a little more than most people and it's all highway miles. With that said, my tires are wearing on the inner edges of the tires. Here is a picture of my tires taken just yesterday. The tires are 4 months old and have a total of 20,000 miles on them. I will let you answer that question....Do I need a camber kit?!?!

Well guys, I am done with this install. Hongda is the man in helping me out with this. Bearcat came over today without warning. I needed a second pair of hands and advice and we were able to get the old ball joints out of the upper control arm.
It wasn't so bad once you figure out the ball joint press. Here are some photos of the install for the guys who are gonna do this in the future.
I searched and came up with not one photo of the front camber kit. I hope this helps anyone else who is planning to do this.
The car is off to the alignment shop in the morning.

However,
this car was designed to have a half of a degree more camber in the rear than the front... handles better that way...

When I did the install a couple of years ago... I just popped the ball joint from the A-Arm with a hammer... popped right out...

Wow you were able to get it out that way and not damage the upper arm...That's crazy. One side needed all we had to get it out so you were lucky. I got the car back from the shop today and all I can say is WOW!! The noise from the tires are gone now that I am riding in the middle and not the edge. The car also handles better. Well worth the money to anyone with a drop over 1.5 inches.

Yo Al (stilhear153) did you get yours in yet or what?

very nice! this is pretty much exactly what i need, just got my alignment today, but i think i might need to buy a front camber kit since i believe my tires are still being threatened of inner tire wear.( i bought eagle F1 G3DS and since my car is too low in the front, the two tires gave out.)

so where can u buy the front camber kit? I already have rears. thnx

^^ What are you not going to install your other kit now? It is really not that big of a job with the ball joint press. The car is night and day how it rides and feels. Well worth it.

Are you guys selling the kit because it's to hard to do? I just got done putting 335 miles on the car and I gotta say, I love the way the car handles now. It is much more planted on the ground. Well worth the install as you will see for yourself.

Not me. I bought the set of front and rear and I thought I'd need them for my Accord. But turned out the front end is still within spec, so mine is for sale. I only installed the rear ones.

Before anyone asks why won't I return them. The local store I went to won't issue me a refund. Rather they would only give me a store credit minus a restocking fee. I'd rather give the community a good deal if I'm getting shafted anyway.

I was wondering if you can help me out, i have the ingalls front adn rear camber kit, and i'm about to do the install. I remember a while back you did a nice DIY, but now i cant find the link

The above quote was sent to me by a member and here is the thread for you. Good luck with the camber kit install. Well worth it and I am getting new tires this weekend. I got 37,000 miles out of a set of tires. That is pretty good for the size of tire.

I just realized I'm getting a little "extra" wear on the inside too...only on 1 tire though so more probably in relation to having lowered the car more after being out of alignment warranty and "eyeballing" it! lol.
I think I'm gonna give one of those no name brands a try...it is just a piece of metal after all...lol.

Great thread though.
For the front camber bolt...they would have to take the tire off to make the adjustment, right?

Sorry to bump a old thread but is a camber kit necessary on a 1" drop like the a spec suspension or eibach springs?

Depends on your camber. -1.5 or less...you'll be ok. Depends on how anal you are too...you WILL wear out the tire a LITTLE earlier (because of the uneveness). BUT, a good alignment that sets the TOE straight and you'll be ok without it.

Just bought my 07 about 6 weeks ago. Previous owner had it lowered and put it back to stock before I bought it.. it has the camber kit on it already. I took it to the dealer to have the alignment done and the right rear is at -1.3 degrees camber. should I take back to have them adjust it? Thanks for the help

I am curious as to why the dealer didn't adjust it? Is it because the camber kit is not from factory or is it that they didn't bother noticing?

Take it back...Anytime I brought my car in for an alignment I made the service writer write on the paper in BOLD that I have a camber on all 4 corners.

The reason why is because I brought it to the same shop and when I came to pick it up, I looked at the sheet and said why isn't it in the green. He said because our cars don't have a camber adjustment. I said, I guess you didn't hear me when I said to you that I installed the camber kit? Another hour of my life I will never get back waiting for them to correct it on the lift. Sometimes I wonder how the message gets lost from one guy to the tech. It helps if the tech opens his eyes while under the car!!

^^^Thanks for the pics. I installed mine lastnight, but now I cant find a place to do the alignment. Firestone said I was too low to pull on the rack. I'm going to try some other shops tomorrow since my choices were limited on Sunday.

Yeah, find a specialty shop. Look for a tire kingdom (tk performance) shops around you or just call and ask if they have an "in ground" lift...that way they can handle putting up a lowered car.

Quick Reply: Front camber kit install??
