First it drifts left... then right. What gives?

I am having some weird drifiting issues with my 2004 TL. Here is a breakdown of what i have done so far.

First- it had bad tires so i put a set of Continental's on it and had it aligned. Alignment specs were perfect. It had a weird vibration so I took it to Firestone to have the tires road force balanced. All is well except for the fact that the car drifts to the left. It happens more at highway speeds, but will also happen at 30MPH.

Three days later I hit a pothole and bend the two front rims. I get two new rims put on, used the existing tires since they were not damaged and had it aligned again. Alignment specs are perfect afterwards again. Only thing that was off was the toe on the front right- and that was minimal. Car is still drifting left. I have the same vibration problem again with the tires so I take it back to Firestone and have them road force balance the two tires again and now my vibration is gone. Only thing now is that the car drifts to the right. The drift happens at just about any speed.

The car had this drift issue before I put the tires on, but I had just bought it and don't know how long it had been doing this. The steering wheel was just a hair off center to the left this whole time but now that it drifts right, the wheel is slightly off center to the right.

Any ideas?

What probably happened is that you had an alignment issue before, and you had it fixed, but now you have a bad tire.

Some alignment shops don't make sure the damn steering wheel is pointed straight...

Rotate the tires temporarily to cancel out the possibility of being a bad tire

Usually the reason for a car not pointing straight is the steering wheel not being centered.. Ask the shop if you can sit in the car while they do the alignment and hold the wheel pointing straight

I am going to move the tires around and see if it changes the drift to try and rule out any tire issues.

I was getting some random vibrations yesterday at higher speeds, and I think it was after hitting the brakes. I will check over the breaking system and rule out any issues there as well. Maybe a caliper is hanging up?

Did you buy ths car new or used? I had a buddy that bought a used Lexus IS300. His tires kept wearing out quickly even though his alignment was spot on. Ended up being the frame was damaged in an accident and the dealrship never told him. And it didn't show up on the carfax yet cause it just happened. This could also cause vibration.

How is your tire wear?

And your tie rod ends might be worn out. But the alignment shop would've noticed that.
