Fall is in, winter is coming. Rubber time..

I'm needing new rubbers now, my stock tires are starting to not listen to me.
Understeers very easily in rain, wheelspins even if I go light on throttle etc.

What are some tires you guys might suggest for the TL-S that fits this time of the year or just can deal with wet and dry?

I'm still running on stock Type-S wheel/rims.

I already feel the understeer in the rain when I try to tackle a corner abit quicker than usual speed.

wow, thats really odd, have you checked the depth of the treads on the tires? I would highly suggest you contact acura if the tires are wearing to quickly as you may have a bad batch of tires or the alignment might be off.

Alignment should be fine, at least I don't feel anything wrong with alignment while driving it.

Probably the tires, but I don't think I can do anything to Acura about it. I've already had the car for 5 months now.

You sure its not the roads? Fresh rain on pavement that hasn't seen rain in a while tends to be slippery, moreso than usual. All that oil, grease, dust, etc.

But on the roads that I usually drive home on, it feels more slippery than usually.
and I feel alot more of the understeer when I take a corner more agressively. Kinda makes me unconfident with the corners I drive on everyday.

Umm...

Where about have you been driving to experience this?

I never experienced the wheelspins or understeer you're describing. The TL-S shouldn't have a big difference in power at lower rpm's compared to the TL, right?

There was once I had a scary understeer when I was exiting out the freeway on a big 360 degree turn ramp. But I was simply driving too fast at that time, so I don't think it has anything to do with the tires or the car itself.

Understeered last night at the "S-turn" where you turn onto Russ Baker and onto Arthur Liang Bridge...
Then on SW Marine dr. , car felt unstable, felt like hydroplane. Wheel spins off stop lights in the rain, which happens almost any where.

Also, the car had a bit of a wheel spin when I downshifted from 3rd to 2nd and accelerated.

Are you sure you mean "understeer"? That is the tendency of the front end to "plow" and scrub off speed. Maybe you mean "oversteer", where the rear has a tendency to slide, especially into corners. This is the usual tendency for worn tires, and is prevelant in the Michelin OE tires when they get over 10-20,000 miles on them.
Back to point, best all seasons seem to be Goodyear F1 A/S, and my favorite, the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's. Potenza 960 seems to rate highly too.
Check out
www.tirerack.com for good comparisons.

What was the ambient temperature at the time?
I don't know about up in BC (tho I'll be up there next week), but down here we just had the seasons first cold snap. (First snows in the passes, and night temps down in the 40s, etc.

I know cold temps + rain, means you have to have a good tire....
In my G35 for example, when it was still wearing the stock Michelin Pilot Sports Summer tires, I had crazy problems with tire-spin and the back end kicking out on moderate curves, when it was misty and 45 degrees.

I talked to a guy at tire-rack, who explained that "summer" in summer tires means average daily temps > 60 degrees and average nightly temps > 50 degrees.

Even our TL, I had a similar problem even with the stock All/Season tires it came with, tho not as pronounced... (Wheelspin on light acceleration in the cold rain)

However, after installing Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on the G35 and Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS on the TL, my problems went away. I'd highly recommend these tires if your looking for All-Season tires. Tho I'd get the RE960AS over the Pilot Sport A/S, because my Pilot Sport A/S only lasted 20,000 miles, so now all my cars have RE960AS at the moment.

I usually go quite slow in that "S-turn", especially in rain, since that turn is quite sharp.

At any rate, if you get a set of new tires, tell us how it goes!

Yeah, the temperature is around there most of the times in the last couple of weeks.

I'll be going to the dedicated winters pretty soon .. eg. next week.

And its colder here than at the coast..

I just bought 4 Yoko IG20 ICE GUARD 235/45/17 and they're amazing on the rain, waiting for the ice/snow to test and review even if I already have positiv points.

I'm pretty sure I know what oversteer and what understeer is, and I'm pretty sure it was understeer. The front wheels weren't gripping and the car was taking the turn extremely wide.

Snows are ok too, since my tires do fine in the dry. Winter is coming, although not much snow in Vancouver, BC.

I think I might just look into that...

I don't know if they have America's Tire Company (aka Discount Tire Company) in BC, but that's where I got mine installed. They have a 30 day money back gaurantee, to see if you like the tires. They also match Tire-Rack prices. They just add like $15 to the price Tirerack advertises, because the tirerack prices don't include shipping.
