I obssessed about it a lot, too and went back and forth A LOT between these and the A-Spec suspension. People whose opinion I respect (e.g., my cousin who built a 1994 Nissan Sylvia from scratch) urged me towards the coilovers versus the A-Spec suspension. The incremental cost is definitely worth it when compared to the added functionality you get.

I too almost bought an a-spec suspension, but this is new and price is nice.

I ordered a few extra sets. So if anyone wants to get in on this you have until Monday to get your payment in. After that the GB pricing will be over.

"The final payment will be due the week the parts arrive, which is 1-2 months from the date of order."

So by the end of March or early April the final payment should be due as Josh has most likely placed the initial order by now since the group buy ended Jan 31st. He will probably post in here as well letting us all know that a final payment needs to be made.

Just a few questions I need to ask in regards to the springs.

I like the ride on my OEM TL-S but want better cornering and no body roll and stiffer steering. Should I go with the Street Comfort or the street/sport as I want to keep the luxury aspect of the ride since I have people riding with me alot?

I already have the Progress RSB as well, so maybe the street/sport may be to sporty?

I don't want a bouncy ride, just maybe a little firmer then the TL-S oem suspension and no body roll, better steering.

Josh-I put "Street/Sport" when sending payment, however based on your and other responses, I may want to switch it to street comfort.

Ebelp has street/sport and on its softest setting he says it's only slightly firmer than the oem type s, so you should be fine with street/ sport.

Josh, please change my spring rates to street comfort. With all the construction around here I think it might be the better choice.

Callahan, I'm just wondering how come you're going with the race/track spring rates? You plan on doing auto-x or anything like that? I guess if you like a real firm ride you went with them, but don't you think they may ride a little too stiff, even if they were on the softest damper setting?

I don't auto x or track but would like to track one day, ride will probably be to stiff for most people but I'll be fine . It's worth it for the handling

I see a few with the sport comfort springs and a few street/sport and noticed they both have the same spring rates.

What exactly is the difference between them then? I hope ebelp or Josh can help with this.

The spring rates are different, 12/8 isn't that aggressive (only slightly fimmer than oem) on it's softest setting like ebelp has mentioned but if you are going strictly for looks and want a softer ride than the oem type s I would go with the 10/6 (street comfort).

Comfort and Sport do have different spring rates, they are not the same. And take a look at 94eg!'s post on page 4 post #121 as to what the difference is between the spring rates are.

That helped but now I am more confused. I don't know how stiff the street/sport would be for daily driving.

Josh, when is the last day to decide on the spring setting?

I'm in the same boat as you, sort of. I am trying to keep a close to stock ride quality. Of course with coils it will be a little stiffer, but from reading a lot of different posts, if you keep the damper on full soft or at least close to it, it's not going to be even close to a back breaking ride. I am going with the comfort springs because I am simply concerned with lowering the car for looks and I'm not as concerned with super cornering and handling that you will get with stiffer springs. If you're that worried about ride quality I would suggest you stick with the comfort spring rates and keep them on full soft or at least close to it. Even if you went with the sport spring rates and kept them on full soft I doubt you would be unsatisfied with the ride quality of them. I look at it this way, if you stick with the softest spring rates you can always adjust the damper to make them ride a bit stiffer. If you go with too high a spring rate you may not be able to adjust the damper enough to make them ride soft enough for you. Hope this helps your decision.

^Thanks bro. My main thing is if I get the sport comfort is that I don't want any body roll when cornerning. I don't care about track performance or even auto-x, but I also was thinking of getting sport/street and placing the damper on full soft for a more comfortable ride. After reading your reply, I am now leaning more towards the sport/street.

I am going to give it until tomorrow afternoon to make a decision.

I appreciate your help with this.

Not a problem man, that's what we are here for. Since you already have a RSB that has probably decreased body roll significantly when cornering so these coils will definitely decrease if not totally eliminate it. No matter what spring rate you go with comfort or sport, I think you'll be happy with your decision. Ebelp can personally attest to the sport spring rates as he is the only person right now that has these coils right now. So if you have any direct questions about them or his experience you should shoot him a PM.

I went with the comfort's due to the fact I lug my 2.5 year old daughter with me sometimes (she loves riding in the TL, especially with her new Recaro ). I am mainly concerned with aesthetics of the car also. It was definitely a 50/50 between the comforts and sports.

IMO, suspension isn't the only thing that makes a car handle good, the driver plays a big role in that! I've seen a few stock cars whoop up on full blown suspension setups driven by dorks, lol. Also, the stiffer the suspension, the more wear and tear on other components of your car.
