EL42 - TU2 Flatspot ?
Ok I know this has been discussed to death BUT:
I was one of the early Acura owners Nov 03. I got Pilot Sports last Jan. In March I got brand new EL42's that replaced my orignal ones. I put the 4 brand new TU2 EL42's in my basement.
I have to replace my sports after 23K.
My question that I cannot seem to find is:
Do the TU2's flat spot also??
And if they flatspot is it not as bad as the old EL42's? or the same?
I am thinking of just putting EL's on and getting 15K out of them.

Got my car back in Sept. 04 with the new EL-42's and yes they do flat-spot. Not sure when compared to the old Bridgestones but the flat-spotting problem is still there.

DaveB99, Welcome back.
I had both PVC and TU2 EL42s in 03-04 winter. They all flatspotted. It's hard to compare which one would be worse. But, since Bridgestone doesn't change teh design of EL42s' belt and materials, EL42 tends to being like other Bridgestone's tires. There are a few threads discussing these two tires. Obviously, TU2 has less complaints so far...

Most of Bridgestone's line up will flat spot. I've always loved Bridgestone products but not for the TL. I've had the new version of the EL42 and the LS-Z on my car in only 4500 miles, both are bad when when it comes to flat spotting. I actually think the LS-Z flat spot worse than the EL 42 but warms up faster and you don't have to deal with it as long.
You might consider the Falken or Toyo line if you'd like a substantially better tire.

The TU2's are on.
Fred Flintstone land in the morning.
They don't seem to flatspot as bad as the old ones from my memory.
Verdict: I am going to stay with them. Save some cash and use them up. One thing the EL42's do have going for them - "they are pretty quiet". Definietly quieter than the Pilot Sport. There is something to be said for that.
My next tires - no flatspotting and quiet. I've got 15K in rubber time to figure that out. (when the EL42's die)
