Eibach spring problems... need help

i bought the eibach pro kit springs for my 08 type s and the two springs on the front dont even fit right on my shocks.... they were still able to be compressed and be put on the shock

so i put them on and i rode around and the front springs pop off but lucky i was still able to drive normally.... so i took my rim off and a part of the shock is bent (the bottom platform of the shock that holds the bottom of the spring)

i know i have seen on the forum that there are other people have these springs installed also and didnt hear of any problems...

whats the deal??

my question is what can i do and how come the front springs for the 04+ TL dont fit my CAR!!!!

the back springs are fine but the front ones are the ones giving me a problem...

If you got the right part number, you might have just gotten a defective set.

Where did you install them?

were they installed correctly - upside down, etc.?

springs don't just pop off unless the strut mounts are not tightened or really loose. It seems you were riding on that shock after the front springs popped out?

Sounds like that strut is shot. Sorry to hear that, but I don't see any alternative except replacement if it is bent.

My *guess* in the cause of the problem is either:

- Wrong part (not likely, IMHO)

OR

- Improper Assembly. Maybe upside down. Maybe not seated properly.

But, I *think* the two most likely mistakes would be the Tophat improperly re-assmbled and/or torqued or the TopHat/Spring were improperly aligned with the strut.

The Tophat upper mounts only fit in their bolt holes properly one way. The strut must be aligned within (iirc) 3* of perpendicular to fit assemble correctly.

Look here for what I mean:

https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/fm-modulators-group-purchase-173827/

Look at Service Manual Page 18-27, Reassembly, step 3 and especially step 4.

( a real mechanic would have charged more  )

Good Luck.

yea i agree... either install error OR for some strange reason, the wrong springs were in the box (maybe tsx ? )

it has happened with H&R springs, but not with eibach (atleast to my knowledge)

i know that i did not install them upside down bcuz the other end is even bigger so that would be impossible.... my true guess is that i am a victim of a defected set bcuz the spring was sitting 50% off and 50% on at the bottom of the shock (doesn't have an oem fit).....

but i did contact excelerate bcuz that is where i got my springs from and asked for a refund or exchange so hopefully i can get my money back or exchange for some tein basic coilovers and pay the difference.. bcuz i dont feel like going through that again...

horrible experience...just so no one gets it twisted... im not hating or bashing on excelerate.... i have bought all my parts through josh the owner and im planning on buying the type s catback exhaust from him too... be on the look out for that..

all of the bellow stated cars have different part #'s excluding the 7th gen accord and 3rd gen tl which have the same part #s... I list this up because if you did receive the wrong springs, the items would still bolt up no problem, I have been rolling on accord springs for over 5k miles no problem

accord 4cyl 03-07
tsx
accord v6 03-07
tl base 04-08
type s 07-08

what part # does it have on the box if possible?

Actually, Eibach Prokits for all 03-07 Accord V6 and 4-cylinder, 3G TL, and TSX look almost exactly the same. The ends of the springs also have exactly the same diameter. It's possible that there's a mistake on the manufacturer's end and they put springs for other car in that box.

Question to the OP, is the Eibach label on the springs the right side up? What's the part number printed on those springs?

peternguyen504, I spoke with Eibach tech directly last year and he assured me that the only difference is that Type S kit comes with new rear bump stops. Otherwise, everything is the exactly the same.

If you can see the part numbers printed on your front springs, that would help. The part number should be 4044.001. If the part number is not 4044.001, you have the incorrect springs.

update.....

now im dealing with some bulls*** im goin back and forth with excelerate and eibach about my case

come to find out... the springs i got arent even eibach springs.... somebody sabotaged my package and gave me stock springs from another car

so basically i got played.... eibach told me that they do not distribute oem springs so that would be impossible to happen at their manufacturer... so im thinking maybe an employee at excelerate did this to me

talk to excelerate they saying that it must be either an employee from eibach or ups that swapped my springs...

now im just pissed off that i got fake eibach springs in the mail and nobody is really helping me with getting new ones and im left with a tl type s sitting on jacks, my ass sitting at home waiting for responses, and its just ticking me off that i paid for some fake eibachs that bent my shocks

oh yeah....

and excelerate is blaming me for installing them!!!!

sorry if i thought eibach springs were getting installed on my car!!!

just my POV

geez.... never thought this crap would happen to me...

Peter please give me your phone # as I had asked so we can arrange to get you new springs.

From the pictures you sent me it looks like you have some sort of OE springs for front and rear. When you had called me you had said you had just front springs that didn't fit so I called Eibach and spoke to a rep there I know who forwarded me to Dave Cortez who told me to have you contact him. They had told me they would take care of it since otherwise sending the springs back to us would have take more time.

I have no idea how those OE springs got in the box but it wasn't from us. Of what value would it be to me to swap your Eibach springs for OE springs? I don't even have a TL and I'm certainly not going to steal $200 springs and make my customer unhappy. The only thing I can think of is either a UPS employee or an employee of the distributor I bought them from changed them out because all I did was order them in and ship them directly out to you. However, we will get you a new set. You, however, should not install springs that don't fit nor drive on them. The pictures I just received last night show springs that look just like your factory springs in terms of color and design and not aftermarket springs.

We will help to get you a new set of Eibach springs.

Peter, I have emailed you a couple times. Please call me. 203-483-6100 I have talked to Eibach and they have said it isn't their fault and they don't have any OE springs there so I have contacted the distributor and arranged to have you sent another set of springs. I am going to pay the additional freight to try to get them to you by Saturday, since Monday is a holiday and no one will be delivering. I will need you to package the springs that came in the Eibach box back in the box and the distributor will have a return label sent so they can be sent back to the distributor.

Nevermind, we just spoke on the phone. We got it all resolved. Thanks for your patience and I am very sorry for the mishap. As we discussed I'll take care of you on the Basics order and also give you $75 off the exhaust if you choose to order that too.

Well if the package dropped shipped from Eibach, or, I guess in this case, from a distriburor, it's obvious that no one at Excelerate in his employ was involved in these shenanigans.

It likely occured somewhere between Eiback, the distributor and delivery at your home.

The only thing I don't get is what are these "OE" springs. They *can't* be 3G TL Springs because they would've fit. They must be from a completly incompatible car.

Glad you, Josh and Eibach got this resolved.

And, Al, this is why, if a person doesn't know any better, they order *the* part number for their car and insure that is what they received.
