Eibach pro-kit spring set vs. A-spec on 08 type S
#3
Depends on what you mean by better. But generally if you dont want a big drop, the A-specs are better.
The A-spec kit is matched with the correct shocks. With the Eibach you would keep the same shocks or buy new shocks, which would make it more expensive than the A-spec kit.
If roughing up your front air dam is a concern then the A-specs are the better way to go as they only drop about 3/4" up front. I find that my TL-S barely clears all parking stops and curbs at that drop. With the Eibachs you would need to be careful with the higher parking stops and steep driveways.
Also, the A-specs are a factory part with a factory warranty. If you need service you can just go to the dealer. It might also help resale value.

As mentioned, "Better" is a subjective term....what exactly are you looking to improve?
Initially, when looking at suspension kits, I was seriously considering the A-Spec. However, I wanted a tad bit more drop...some cars that I saw with the A-Spec suspension didn't looked dropped at all to me.
That's when I had looked at spring kits like the Comptech, H&R, Tein and the Eibach Pro-Kit...and after much research and a few false starts, I decided on the Pro-Kit. I'm very pleased thus far with the Eibachs, the 1"-ish drop looks great, is a vast improvement in handling and ride is almost the same as OEM TL-S.
As far as OEM shock life with the Eibach springs, I'd wager that they'll last as long as with the OEM springs...the drop isn't as severe nor the spring rate as harsh to shorten the life span of them at all, if any. If I could justify more $, I'd definitely get a set of Megan adjustable coilovers but until then, the Pro-Kit suit my purposes nicely.

I don't want a big drop, just enough to close the gap between the tires and the fender well. I also plan to upgrade the stock tl-s wheels to rj 18 possibly 19 later.
Do i need to upgrade the strut with aspec as well or can i just get the springs?

Thanks Ramrodthrusterpuppy , I was leaning toward the Eibach pro-kit as well. It's good to hear that you it improves the handling without sacrifice the ride quality. Do you have picture of your ride with the Eibach installed?

A-Spec is Shocks plus Springs; a factory Coil-Over. Drop is 0.75". Price ~$600+ Plus Installation (or DIY)
Eibach is springs only. Drop is 1.0". Price ~$200/$220 plus instal (or DIY). Stock shocks should be OK.
Tire/wheel size should not matter *much* in terms of closing the fender gap, assuming you are going with a total diameter close to the factory 17's.
No big secret I am a fan of the H&R Sport. 2007 TL-S with stock shocks. Same price as Eibach, about 4/10" more drop. Great product so far.

I was quoted about $500 for the Eibach pro kit installed....isnt that somewhat high? The kit goes for a little bit over 200 correct? What should I do? I plan on getting this kit.

You are getting ripped off. Labor fee should be settled in the range of 120-150, I believe.
I have a question though, isn't Comptech springs exactly identical to the Eibach springs?

I shopped 8 - 10 shops; indies, chains, etc. So, $500 isn't out-of-line with what I was offered.
I went DIY instead. No too hard, especially if you've got tools and a helper and one of you has some general experience.

Just to be clear, I've got H&R Sports. Height-wise H&R Sports are lower than Eibach which are lower than A-Spec. IOW - A-Spec have the least amount of drop of the 3.
Mine ride great, BTW. I posted some thoughts/comments in the thread linked above.

Got 'em from Mike at AcuraTLParts.com (ATLP, screen name: aznbo187). He is a site vendor. Price was competitive at ~$200 plus shipping.
These were from the first container to arrive in the US for the TL-S Spring. Mike worked really hard to keep me informed on availability and shipping status.
