EDFC - New Design! Black Control Module Housing...

TEIN has redesigned their Electronic Damping Force Controller.

The new unit comes with a black control module and smaller motors. The new module is non compatible with the old motors and vice versa.

I believe the light up display is not green anymore but a whitish blue.

In order for the motors to be mounted on top of the struts you have to do one of the following:

A) Delete the OEM strut bar
B) Cut of modify the OEM strut bar
C) Use Greddy 03+ Accord strut bar
D) Use Neuspeed 03+ Accord strut bar
E) Design your own strut bar!

I think the price is about the same. They are making you buy everything seperate. The controller kit is $230. The motor kit is $150. Strut kit is $30. But the strut kit is not available for our TL. I e-mailed Tein and they said that they are going to make the strut kit for the Rsx and the integra form the Acura lineup

Do you guys know when the new black EDFC will be available?

I'm not sure when it is being released. I assume these new kits have already been released.

...does anyone have this new kit per chance?

Its not that advanced. but if the new model is the same, you can only adjust manually to a sporty ride or a softer ride. Sporty=more bumpy=more stiff and is better for racing. You can feel every bump on the road with the stiffest setting, but you would have more control.

Sun of a gun It is not going to be compatible with the Tein SS, if I got this correct. On the website it says that the new EDFC is only compatable with the mono flex and comfort sport dampers. Why do we always get screwed over

You might have not understood what that sentence was trying to convey! I think it was saying those systems are only compatible with the new EDFC.

I see that they decided not to make a wireless one. That's a shame.

You will need to order the TEIN Super Street Dampers, which will include the full assembly of shocks and springs.

I've been running these for 54,000 miles and so far no problems.

well damn I was going to buy a set just for the black module and then sell my display with the new motors but since the new display wont work with the old motors guess I am keeping my silver one cause I am definitly not rewiring those things that was a pain.

Allrighty then. Here is the story.

My brother came over and insisted we attempt to plug the new module up to the existing motors from the original EDFC. I told him that's fine and so we did. Apparently the new module DOES WORK with the original motors. I'm not sure why TEIN has this listed as them being noncompatible.

The display is still green, but if i remember correctly the original is a little different color green...the new one is greener if you will.

So now I am able to adjust the dampening from the driver seat once again. It has been stuck on level 14 ever since the original module was stolen.

If anyone feels the need to break the window on my TL and steal this new module, please don't do that...Just leave a note on my car with your number and i'll buy you one. Thanks.

I know how that feels. I'd rather give it away rather than going thru all the trouble. Its such a PITA when you have to fix and replace something that go damaged/stolen.

So, are you going to use the old motors with the new controller???.... if this really does work then maybe i will just buy the control box. its a pain in the ass to run those wires again.

haha that's funny but at the same time its not a laughing matter!! I was upset because at first i didnt think the guy got away with anything because when i looked in the window the radar detector was in the seat...so i assumed that if the radar detector never made it out then nothing else would be gone. Apparently the EDFC module was the primary target and i finally realized it was missing 24 hours later.

..send the payment via paypal and i'll send it ups ground...should arrive in jersey in 2 business days. j/k!

How much of a pain was it to wire those motors up?!

That is correct.

Tein has it listed on their website that the new module isn't compatible with the old motors, but according to the results of the experiment,..the motors seem to adjust without any problems.

It definitely wouldn't have been fun to rewire the entire system.

I just called Tein and spoke to Joe in the tech dept and he confirmed that the new black module will work just fine with the old motors.
