I believe in the powdercoating process they sandblast the wheel and then sand it down to a smooth finish then apply the color and bake it multiple times. Don't quote me if I'm wrong

i tried getting my rims coated. they charge anywhere from 150-300 a wheel, you are better off getting the wheels that you really wanted. i dont mind piking up the ebony ones from you.

Holy shit that's pricey

I got a quote from a place here willing to redo my wheels for $400 It doesn't hurt to shop around and compare prices. Keep in mind they may charge you more if you want a custom color and not just a "generic" color.

I have no idea about that. Sorry man. I believe the chroming process is a little different.

I copied this off of a website I found on Google about Chroming:

1. Polish
2. Vapor de-greaser
3. Caustic cleaner (electro)
4. Dioxides (aluminum)
5. Etching solution (aluminum)
6. Rinse (water)
7. Acid
8. Rinse (water)
9. Copper strike
10. Ni add nickel
11. Bright nickel
12. Rinse (water)
13. Actuator
14. Hex chrome

Quite a few more steps than powdercoating. The place I took my wheels to for an estimate specializes just in powdercoating. I don't believe they do chrome. That may be why the price is a little different.
