Durability Of Stock Tl 2004 Wheels????
The wheels/rims of our TL look great but what do we know about its quality of construction and its durability. Also the low profile 45 does not help much protecting the rim in case of hard pounding. In Germany all wheels have to pass TUV standards which are pretty high. My concern is the softness of the metal, ability to handle the occasional pothole etc. They are pricey at the dealer and hate to have to replace them because of going out of round, not holding air properly etc, etc! Anyone have any experiences or heard anything regarding the rim integrity ? Thanks for your help. Regards

Being a stock wheel, weight is not so much a concern for the manufacturer, so these are pretty substantial and solid wheels. I wouldn't worry much about them. Also, 45 isn't exactly low profile, I think that it should afford enough protection to keep the wheels in good shape.
For the overall safety/health of all of the cars parts, including suspension, alignment, body work, etc, I would still try to avoid all the bad crap the roads throw out at us, but wheel wise you should be fine.
