Dunlop Direzza Star Specs.. oh boy!

Well, after stretching out the stock crap rubber that came from Acura for 45k miles which then literally became "slicks" I did some research and put the number 1 rated summer tire by Car and Driver on the TypeS.

Once I saw the tread pattern I essentially fell in love with the tire, and the research only solidified that.

Initial Impression:
Ride noise going from the badly worn out original equipment is def. more quite and helps the car feel a little softer ride. Which is expected going from any BALD tire to ANY new tire.... so remember that as a note. I am sure however they are slightly louder then a new set of stock tires in the "all-season" category.

The rubber I can tell you needs to be broken in through a few heat cycles as any tire, but initially are extremely sticky and a major upgrade. Taking corners have been added with stability from the special tire design and reinforced shoulders in the tire giving ZERO SHOULDER ROLL. I cant wait till I can put some real heat and a few cycles in these and they start to show there full potential!

Tire speed rating is "W" with a 200 tread wear, the original tires I believe are a 500 tread wear so I am highly interested to see how many miles I can get out of these.

Sorry for the DIRT pic, I pulled in to the bank after the install whos parking lot was under construction.

Will check back in with more updates as they come along.

Heres the link for the resulting tire tests that helped with my decision:

yeah the design is pure sex... the stickiness is unreal, and the wet rating are equally as high in the mid 8's on tire racks spec sheet...... I have basically found the perfect tire that will only be put on my TL-S as long as I own it.

Nice tires! I'm sure you will be very happy with them. I'm on a 200 treadwear tire too and so far I've managed 21,000 miles out of them. The fronts are near the wear markers. If I can get through the winter I can probably get through the summer and replace them before next winter. If I can get 25,000 out of them I'll be happy.

Looking forward to a review after a few heat cycles. Mine were sticky right out of the box but after a few days they got even better which I'm sure yours will too.

Nice, def. good news, I have been so busy with stuff lately, although I havent cycled them yet with all the highway miles they seem to be getting stickier, the car just goes where you put it, massive amounts of grip that I think street driving and or my skills could not even come close to pushing to the limit.

I feel like the shape and design of the tire and the side wall when mounted gives a different feel of more "stability" (which you can tell instantly) to the car when cornering along side the reinforced sidewalls, the car just feels rock solid and almost screams to have me through her at each and every corner like a mad man

I am very tempted to buy these tires after all the reviews about them, but the question is if I don't track the car or if I do, it would be once in a blue moon, would it be wise to buy these sets of tires? I know they are noisy tires and I have driven a TL on these tires before and just yesterday another Acuraziner who took my Work Wheels told me to go for these tires if I want the best grip.

Apparently, these tires don't squeal or punish you if you try taking turns at 90kmh on highways either. So far these tires are absolutely the best reviewed tire no matter which tire site or forum I go to. BTW OP, what tire size did you go for?

Tires like this are fairly close to an "R" compound. They will work ok when cold but they do need a little warmup for maximum grip. There's a corner I take every morning on the way to work that the car slides around now that it's cold that I can take 10mph quicker once the tires are warm.

Also check out the Nitto NT05 if you're looking for a tire in this category. Very quiet but the downside is they only come with 6/32 tread.

stock size I really didnt see the need or benefit from going wider...only thing you get is a more expensive heavier tire, with a little more contact patch .... not one plus in my eyes...

Here are the facts: This tire performs better in the dry and wet, as well as having tons more grip, and is about 20-30 cheaper then the tires that came with the Type-S ..... so the question I have for you is.... WHY WOULDN'T YOU???????????????

They are a little more noisy, but honestly when and how often do you drive your car with the windows up and radio off????? Turn the volume to 5 and you dont hear a thing.
