Dumped the Cooper RS3-A's for the Micheilin AS/3's

After trying out the Cooper RS3-A's for a month, I decided to take advantage of their 45 day trial. They're also one of the top rated all season tyiz in Consumer Reports.

They had what I thought was a nice ride, took the bumps, handled very well, and had very good wet and dry traction. And at $115 a tire, mounted balanced and installed, I really thought it was a good deal. But there was one problem, GAS MILEAGE! Mine dropped between 3-5 MPG depending on driving conditions while I had them, something I noticed the minute I put them on. Needless to say I was not impressed. And it's a shame too because if it weren't for the gas mileage issue, I would have kept them. Turns out Cooper's real expertise is in making light truck tires.

So I swapped them for the Michelins for $44 more a tire. And what a difference! The Michelins have an even smoother ride, take the bumps and pot holes better (in fact I hardly feel the pot holes any more), are hydroplane free on wet roads, and handle about as well as any tire I've ever driven on.

There's a reason why they're the #1 rated all season tire in Consumer Reports, "The standard by which all other tires are judged"

Looking for an all season tire for your 3G TL? There really is no other choice!

At least I am not the only one who has ever seen such a drastic change in MPG just by changing tires.

Will be curious to see your longer term views on these tires. So far the only negative I remember seeing on here was they weren't as great in the snow as the DWS. Everything else has been very positive.

I'm actually looking into ordering a set of these through the shop I work for. How many miles you have on them so far?

DMZ - just to be clear, your MPG has returned to previous levels? I think I'll move back tot he Michelin Pilot Sports when my Continental ExtremeContacts wear out.

Do a search on the internet, and you'll find that I'm not the only one whose seen a drop in gas mileage with the Coopers.

I've had the Michelins since the last big snow we had in NY and I can tell you their snow traction was BETTER than the DWS's I had prior. Of course, no all season tire is meant to replace snow tires, but they do the job for the kinds of snow we have here, and are excellent at it too. Everything you've read on AcuraZine, Consumer Reports, Discount Tire, and Tire Rack about these tires is 100% true. So pick up a set, I promise you'll NEVER regret it!

Mine were $158 each, mounted, balanced, and installed + $9 each for the Road Hazard warranty at Mavis Tire.
