Dronell M-05

Well it seems like everyone thinks I should get some 19s. What I'm worried about is will the 19 X 7.5 +48 Dronell M-05 be a size that will not give me any rubbing what so ever on my 99 TL with some Comptech Sport springs. Also the roads around here in the Washington DC area are pretty crappy, will running a 35 series tire be too dangerous. And how crappy will my ride quality become vs. doing an 18. I just don't want my ride quality to be as crappy as it was in my Integra that had some Skunk2 coilovers and a 3+" drop and Tokico Illuminas set at the stiffest settings. I've been there done that. I want it to look good but I don't want to sacrifice too much for it.

If you're not getting coil overs your ride will be fine. There is no
ride difference between 18 and 19 from my experience, just
quality tire options. Both 18 and 19 have about the same chance
of bending so choose your poison. I've had both, I'm going back
to 19s.

What about rubbing? With an 19 X 7.5 +48 offset do I need to worry about any rubbing. By the way got the Comptechs done today...I think it looks slick. No difference in ride quality yet I'm totally happy with it.

Well now that I decided on a wheel it seems like my luck has gone against me. I called AutoCarParts to check on the availability of the Type M-05s and they're back ordered for like 2 months and will only be available directly from Japan which means the price is going up.

I don't understand. If they are back-ordered in the Japan factory, you still have to wait 2 months even if you directly order and ship from Japan. If they are back-ordered in the US distributor and not in Japan, it probably means that the distributor is waiting for enough customer orders before it will order the whole lot from Japan to save the freight and trouble.

I guess I mispoke. The wheels are still in the R&D process. They are not officially being made according to AutoCarParts. I still have to go ahead and give Dronell a call directly to see what the deal is. 2 months is a long time to wait when you're not a patient person.

Dronell's are damn clean rims but very heavy and also very expensive I just came from wheel wherehouse today, where they have a lot of rims that they sit right next to your car and see how they look. That size 19x7.5 W/ +48 offset should be perfect w/o any problems at all (from all the posts I've seen). Again very very clean rim but very very heavy even non-chrome! SORRY I'm not talking about the M-05's but the Type II's and Type I's.

My 2 cents.

Moota, I had been trying to buy the M05 since June last year. AKT is the US distributor for Dronell wheels, and has the M05 specs and sizes listed in its website in May last year.

Back in June 2001, I placed an order for the M05 with Tim. But the price was wrong and the M05 was on backorder. So Tim nicely cancelled my order. Since then the delivery date was pushed to Sept, then to Nov, then to Dec, then to now. I won't upgrade my rims and tires in the winter time, so I waited patiently.

Now you told me that the M05 is still in R&D process . . . what a joke. After almost nine months, it's still not being made !? Summer is coming up and it's time I'm gonna start looking for rims again. My patience is about to run out. Looks like I'll have to buy some other brands this time.

There are a lot of sights that list it and sizes that fit out cars but if you try to order it there's nothing available from the 2 places I spoke to.

BFOR3 I wanted the SO3's from the start but the 235/35/19 size has been on back order for over 7 months and no end in sight plus they don't have a 225/35/19 size. I also wanted room to slam my car with my coilovers. MOOTA I'm just asking because most sites and places I asked said the 19 size was not the same bolt pattern. http://www.wheeloptions.com/wheel/dr...ronellM05.html

I would like to carry those wheels but want to verify what they fit first.

I was looking for the 18x7.5" 48 offset 5x114.3 pattern M05, not 19x7.5". If you take a peek at Tim's wheel section, it will still say the wheels are on backorder.

But I really hope that you are right about the wheels are in production, and even better if they are in stock too. My wait is finally over.
