Yes. Tire Rack rates Ride Comfort and Noise Comfort in addition to other performance characteristics.

Never heard of Xenon tires. What original tires? The EL42's were pretty much universally hated. The MXM4's not much loved either.

Not so much the brand but the type of tires. But even then it varies mostly on design as far as tire noise is concerned. Most times it's a compromise when choosing tires which drivers preffer. Read reviews.

^^^Yes!~ Try and do a search on tires and you will find the ultimate tires you're looking for. This is actually a very common topic!~

Maybe Zeon? They are Cooper and as all have said yes, the make, load rating, speed rating and performance category will all have a part of the ride characteristics.

How do the tread patterns match up .. usually its not recommended to run 2 different patterns/brands on the same car.

It all really comes down to what you are trying to accomplish. As i've mentioned before most times when choosing tires it's really a whole bunch of compromises since most tire companies try to cater to the "best all around" tires to stay competetive. Doing so of course traction (wet or dry), ride comfort, thread wear (noise) are some examples but of course i'm no tire engineer. All i'm trying to point out is that the characteristics of tires play a huge factor on what you're trying to accomplish and not so much brands.

No.. ^^ I was pointing out he has 2 different brands of tires on his car which could mean different wear rating .. weight ratings .. and even different tread patterns which could affect stability. etc etc etc .. and if 2 were stock there could be a difference in tread depth too.

Tirerack or Discounttire has ratings on smoothness, turning, treadwear, noise, etc.

Michelin on the whole, is known for being pretty good for ride quality but then again not all of their tires are just the majority. Its really hard to say though b/c each brand typically has 2 or 3 tires specifically designed for smooth and quiet ride as top priority while another tire they have might emphasis road grip and handling.

Your best bet is to use tirerack and discounttire for ratings from consumers who purchased and are using those tires; I try to look for reviews from people who have 10K, 20K, 30+K miles on them to get a decent idea of how the tire holds up over a long period of time and use. A lot of people just give one review at 500 miles or 1000 miles claiming how great the tire is and then someone right below who has 20k miles on the same tire on the same vehicle complain at how poorly it wore and kept its characterisitics.
