Post does 18x7 with a +40 offset fit our cars?

I was wondering if I bought a rim 18x7 with a +40 offset with 225/40 tires, will I have rubbing problems?

Thumbs down

Yep - 40 is to low. You need 45 ~ 55 offset for TLs.

my working knowledge currently is on 98+ accords (pretty much same as the tl/cl), and normally a 40 offset will not work. accords need at least a 42 offset but that's with wheels that are 7.5" wide. considering you listed a width that is a half-inch smaller (more than offseting the 2mm differential), it's possible that that setup will work but it's still cutting it close.

there is another way of looking at this, but it requires a little bit of math and getting dirty!

Yep, that would put you right on the border which is not the safest place to be. It could easily go the wrong way.

Like Stan says, since it's only a 7 inch you could get lucky, but I know of people who didn't.

Move up to +45 or higher to keep it safe.

From my personal experience I have or had 18x8.5 40mm with 225/40/18 I would rub a little with the comptech drop.
however 18x7, 7.5, or even 8 w/ a 40mm offset will work, because the 18x8.5 is only off by a few mm 18x7 is a whole 1.5" inside. you will have no problems
In fact my friend has on his 2001 accord 19x8 40mm w/215/35/19 he has never rubbed.
I trust this so much that I just ordered 19x8 40mm w/ 225/35/19. I'm 95% positive it will work.
You will certainly have no problems!
