DIY: Ichiba v2 20MM wheel spacer's

Whats up everyone!. Put together a DIY for installing Ichiba v2 20mm wheel spacers. ( Be aware that there are risks with using wheel spacers) but installed properly and doing about 2 re-torque's after 30-50 miles they should be fine. I am not a mechanic just a guy who did his research as should you and likes to work on cars, so take this info as you will.

Lets get started...

Working on a 2007 Acura TL Type-S (No drop...yet)
Wheel spec's 19x8.5 235/35 tires

Tools:

A Jack
Jack Stand('s)
Wheel chocks
A tire iron (a "T" or the OEM one is fine)
1/2" Torque wrench
sand paper
Anti-seize (optional)
rubber mallet or hammer

What we are installing: Ichiba V2 20mm wheel Spacers

1. First make sure the E-brake is on and wheel chocks are in place. Jack up the car and put your jack stand securely under the car on your OEM jack stand points (refer to car manual if needed).

Next remove wheel

2. Clean off any flaking rust so you have a nice surface for the spacer. I used a little of this

Spray a little on and wipe off with paper towel.

I also sanded (220 grit) just a to remove some of the rust.

3. Next put on the wheel hub ring supplied by Ichiba (They must must must be hub-centric to your OEM hub's)

Push on the hub ring, you will need a rubber mallet or a hammer. Just tap on the ring carefully if your using a metal hammer. The fitment should be nice and snug up against your OEM hub.

4. Place your wheel spacer on (Anti-seize is optional here) I used just a TINY bit on the OEM studs.

5. Place the bolt's one to your OEM stud's and Torque to 80 Ft/lb. These are the spec's that Ichiba recommends for these spacers.

6. Torque to 80 ft/lb and do a re-torque at 35 miles, do this at least two times.

The bolt for the spacer should not be flush with the face of the spacer. This can cause a gap that you do not want.

Note:
If you do get a pair of spacers and the spacer bolt does come flush with the face of the spacer. Make sure that the wheel you are putting on has big enough holes on the back to accommodate the bolt face.
You do not want a gap.

Before mounting wheels

I also sanded the back of my aftermarket wheels (NOTICE the black hub centric ring in the bore. If your Aftermarket wheels have a bigger bore size then (OEM 64.1mm) you want to get hub centric ring's so you don't have vibrations. Got these on ebay for $9 for 4. My rings are 73mm to a 64.1mm

If you are putting on aftermarket wheel make sure you have big enough and deep enough holes in the back for your OEM studs to fit in.

After that just mount your wheels back on and don't forget to re-torque. Have fun and be safe !

Crap picture and she's dirty

I read somewhere on here the front isn't as easy as the rear. Something about having to install new bearings?

With 20mm spacers do they rub fender when cornering turns, or over speed bumps. i love the look, but i love to keep my fenders intact also.

Yes, they do rub in the rear. Come summer I hope to roll the fenders and lower the car with coilovers and give it some negative camber. The wheels are 8x5 all around with a 40 offset. I don't need the spacers in the rear, but with out them it looks off from the front were the spacers are needed.

If you have stock wheels you should be fine. I have 20mm spacers up front and 25mm in the rear, i'm also dropped on tein s-tech springs.

No issues with rubbing

Ok so let me make this clear.. I have stock UA6 and also will soon be dropped with tein s-tech. Whats the best safest recommeded spacers to use without having to run into any issues? I been seeing 15mm front and 20mm back. Can I safetly do 20mm front 25mm back? Thanks!

Probably a legal dodge to avoid DOT approval, etc. Just like a lot of car stuff that may be of questionable legality on road.
