Difference between Tein SS & s.tech

I am looking to do some aftermarket upgrades in the near future and need some help. I have searched through older posts before asking but i dont think my ? has still been answered.

What exactly is the difference between the Tein SS (approx $1000) and the tein s.tech ($230 msrp on tein site) -- they both seem to lower the car, so im not really sure what the difference is. I am definitely a n00b when it comes to all of this, but im slowly learning.

I have a 2004 TL (SSM) base model and will be putting 18" RJ Inspyres on it shortly, and i would like to drop it an inch or so as well. What product shold i go with for the drop and what tire size should i get as well. I want to make sure there is no rubbing.

Thanks in advance

Tein SS are full adjustable coilovers, that allow you to adjust the height and dampering levels on the car. The Tein S-techs are just lowering springs.

So, if all i wanna do is lower it, the s.techs would be the better option? Is there a significant difference in the feel of the drive?

I figure if i lower it approx 1 inch and do a 235/40/18 tire, that should fill the wheel well nicely, or should i go with a 245/ ....just want to make sure there is no rubbing thats all.

Thanks for the response Distorted and Anarchy!

Question is how much are you willing to spend and what kind of driving do you plan on doing.

If you just want to do a simple drop and thats it I would go with the TEIN BASICS or get the Springs and couple it with the Tokico hp shocks.

There is a new vendor on the blackmarket with the acurazine discount you can get the Tein Basics for around $750 brand new.

If you go with springs and shocks that will run you around $600.

mr heel toe can do the basics for around 800 shipped with the acurazine coupon. i recommend getting coilovers because the springs will eventually wear out your stock shocks. plus you can adjust height on the basics. they will also ride better than just springs

Either Mrheeltoe or Assualt tech I would check out there prices cant beat them. If I was patient and saved up money instead of buying piece by piece I would have gotte coilovers but at the same time I wasn't going to adjust anything so it would have been a waste for me.

...or I could do the a-spec suspension kit from findlayacura for $545.00 -- that would be like the equivalent of the tein basic's except no adjustment ....do i have that right? I suppose its also good that its OEM product and that seems to be a decent price...

tein basic > aspec suspension

The tein basic u are able to adjust ONLY height..tein ss can adjust BOTH height and damper.

The aspec suspension is only 1" drop or less depending which one u get AT or MT and no adjustments at all

Does the a-spec suspension for M/T go onto A/T cars without any mods? What is the difference in drop between the M/T and A/T?

I may be getting wheels, taillights, and suspension all from him, since he may offer me discount for buying so much stuff

lower springs on stock strut $200-300
a-spec suspension not lower much compare to stock.$500-700(not recomended)
tein basic is only adjust ride height.$700-900
tein ss you can adjustment ride height + dampering levels $1000+ (EDFC optinal)
(with TEIN EDFC package installed you can adjust dampering levels inside the car $300+)

If u are looking for basic coilovers that ride good and u can adjust ONLY height, I would get the tein basics..Dont get the aspec, they are not adjustable so in the future if u want to lower the car some more u are able to the with teins.
