Difference on '06 OEM rims with TPMS and Non-TPMS
Hey guys... I'm trying to figure out what's the difference between a TPMS rim that has a ledge and a rim that doesn't a have a ledge for the TPMS. The reason why I'm asking is because when I bought my 2006 TL w/ Nav from a private dealer I've barely noticed that one of my rim isn't the as the others. I have 3 ledge TPMS rims and one non but all of them are equipped with TPMS. Does having a non ledge TPMS rim effect the TPMS? I hope you could understand what I'm trying to get at. =/

No it won't affect the sensor. Years back when the TPMS sensprs became available on the TL, as you see, the wheel was changed around the valve stem hole, but people have installed the TPMS on the pre '06 wheels without any problem. The TPMS wheels also have a raised boss oppositie the valve hole to compensate for the sensor weight, but even the lack of this feature, it didn't present any problems according to the people that have had the sensors installed on the non factory TPMS wheels, so you're good to go.
