Damn XXR's! NEVER will buy them again.....
On the way going to get some last min shopping crusing about 65-70mph the whole way there, I was slowing down for a turn to merge to another highway a exit away from the destination. I notice some vibration and it was getting worst every single time when I press the brakes. So I pulled over to the side and of course a flat.. I was thinking maybe it was just a nail got stuck or something. Had a can of fix a flat and filled the tire then notice it was leaking from a crack...I curbed the rims but never hit 1 pot holes on this particular rim. I have 1 bent on the passenger side The crack was on the driver side .... Any ways DO NOT BUY XXR's or any cheap rims should've saved money and bought some better ones
Great early x-mas present

And there you have it, ballers on a budget. Can't afford real rims then just stick to stock ones.

"Real" wheels aren't even that much more expensive if you find a good deal on a used set. I considered getting XXR's when I was in the market for wheels. Glad I paid a little more for a more reputable brand.

Sorry to hear that, but you get what you pay for when buying from these rip-off companies.

Sorry to hear, not vouching for inexpensive wheels, but I personally know people who use xxr for track and rally without cracking problems and also one w/ konigs who has been using it for 6 years with no problems (not saying they're the best of quality)
Driving habits, road condition and tires are factors that can effect the integrity of the wheel as well
just saying

Hmm...interesting topic, especially since the 530's have caught my eye. I'm going to play it slow and see how things develop. Interwebs heresay is one thing, but real experience and proof is another. My minds not quite made up, but this stuff is good to know. Thanks for posting and good luck with a resolution. I'd think if the rim shows no impact or other extraordinary damage, XXR would replace it.

do you have one incident of where varrstoen rims have failed on a person?
dont hate on "NON EXPENSIVE RIMS"
all of us can afford expensive rims
but at the same time we dont want to sacrifice all the parts on our cars to fund them like you did
i think youre very biased towards "non expensive rims"

Wow? All of you people bashing XXR cause of this thread are ignorant.
OP, how do you know if your driving habits didn't cause this or a pothole you went over a week or so ago or just recently? I find it funny all of you guys are bashing XXR with 0 evidence besides them being cheap. stfu already
Just cause some wheels are cheap does not mean they aren't built with quality. Fools to think so. Now if tons and tons of XXr wheels (10%+) were going down than I can agree but stop being ignorant just because some spent 1/10th of what you bought for a similar wheel. Holy shit the whining
I don't care for XXR nor do I have any of there wheels but lets use common sense here

they sell thousands of wheels
some of them will obviously fail...this also depends on your luck and the angle you hit the potholes at.
I dont plan on ever owning xxr's but thats because personally none of the styles intrigue me...its just retarded basing the integrity of the company solely based on this thread
If i were to buy Te 37's, Volk ce28s, bbs LM's....I would buy the Varrstoen style brand new unless I got an amazing deal on the authentic ones.
Something like VS XX's or CCWs I would buy the authentic kinds for sure

Well, there are good quality wheels that are thrown out of true and bent and/or cracked due to bad luck and potholes too.
Are the XXR's as strong as other wheels, maybe and probably not. But at 600 bucks for a set, you'd have to crack and break them 5 times before you spend the money on a set of expensive ones. Plus, the car didn't lose control or have anything else happen...just a flat.
Personally, I like oem or a quality wheel, but I know plenty of great forum members rockin lesser expensive wheels and they look great and they do things the right way. I don't like the whole mentality that you're only awesome if you have SUCH AND SUCH wheel etc...the internet is a huge high school sometimes.
To the OP, something about the way you wrote the first post about this one not being the one that got curbed etc and hitting potholes and the fact that you were out of warranty (1 year? 3 years?) kinda tells me that these wheels might have had better luck on a different car, if you know what I mean. You just need a set that can handle a beating. Although we're not immune to damaging wheels...you get better with age and every set.

I've had the same set of 16x7 Konigs with 205/40-16 tires on my Civic for like 12 years and about 80k miles now (lowered almost 3"). I've even gashed one of the lips when I ran over something nasty on the freeway. They just keep on going. With hub-centric rings, I never have to re-balance them.
How much you pay for your rims really has nothing to do with it.

XXR wheels are cheap for a reason; they're knock offs built for show & for folks who can't afford $3,000+ set of authentic wheels. They are not built anywhere to the same standard BBS or Volk build to & if they were, they sure as hell wouldn't be selling for $600/set; the company wouldn't make any money off them.
People need to understand that when it comes to wheels, you get what you pay for, plain & simple. Varrstoen is the only replica company I've seen manage to build a knock off wheel that still retains a high quality finish. And at the same time, it reflects in price as they're generally higher than most replica manufacturers.

I just thought your comment on "MA to NJ driving" and how because you didn't incur any problems en route, you considered varrstoens "strong rims" was hilarious That's like saying "Hey guys I had a road trip from CA to NY and didn't run into any problems, Varrstoens must be really strong."
False.
Rick TL-S summed it up pretty well; you get what you pay for. Just because you didn't run into problems doesn't automatically make replicas 'strong.'
Below are Varrstoen:

Don't get the wrong idea... I never said FUCK varrstoens/XXR/rota FUCK EM... I said you get what you pay for and that they are not strong. I would buy replicas as a winter set and throw some snow tires on them because I barely drive in the winter. But when people say that replicas are strong wheels because of where and how they have driven them is not convincing evidence that wheels are "strong." Your daily commutes to and from work or mini-road trips do not constitute rigorous testing to prove they are strong wheels.
