Don't do that.
Save your money, when you hit $230 call one of our vendors for a set of H&R sports or Tein.
Same drop, better ride, less chance of screwing something up.

.... Cutting springs to lower a car is an attractive option because it is cheap. It is also easy to get the exact desired ride height by cutting small sections until the ride height is correct. However, it cannot absorb forces from bumps correctly, which lowers ride quality, spoils the handling and causes unnecessary wear on suspension components. Cutting springs will in fact lower a car, but so would flattening the tires.

That's the Tein spring in line with your desired drop. Lots of people have run them over the years on their 3G TL.
Keep an eye out on the Black Market classifieds and you might turn up a set used for a good price .... https://acurazine.com/forums/marketplace/parts/search/

Yeah man, listen to Italiano and Bearcat, don't cut your springs. Save your money. The Tein S Techs will give you a nice drop and will look great and save your ride quality A LOT over cutting your OEM springs.

Not saying I don't think the video isn't true, but who's to say dude wasn't just shaking the camera? I would like to see someone in another car video his going down the road to see if there is noticeable bounce like that.

Yeah for the time involved to remove and cut springs. Saving up 200.00 or less for actual name brand springs is well worth the cause.
If anything I heated up springs on a 89 ranger once to get them to lower another 3/8" or so to get it to set level.
Had a 3/4 drop on it and the front was a little high. But that wasn't a $40,000 TL either.

cutting springs is bad...but there are always times when you dont have the extra money to spend on coils to get that exact height you want. I personally wouldnt do it on my car but I helped my friend cut his eibach pro kit springs on his 04 accord(very similar to the TL). We cut off 1 coil ring in the front. We went for a test drive and the ride was kinda shitty so we ended up not cutting the rears, LOL. I mean its fine on a flat road, nothing like that video posted above, but on some bumps it just bounces HARD lol

Easy Octagon-that's a little extreme.
OP, I think you've figured out by now that cutting your springs is not suggested.

i dont even see why cutting springs would ever be an option.
"hmm...yeah, let's cut my OEM springs to make my ride lower. can't see anything negative coming out of this."

This sounds like something college ricers would do to their civics or cavaliers. The entire idea behind it is completely stupid and the definition of rice. Your lowering your car for no reason but to look "cool" but you destroy ride and handling quality.
Not to mention if you don't like it you need to buy new springs anyway to return to stock.

LMAO..... this was a joy to read... Now, I'm not trying to steal a thread but I dont need to make a new one, I can just "borrow" this one....
Are there any springs that have been used that are excellent at lowering this car, that will not change the ride from stock in anyways? I'd be interested in finding this out as there is a big of wheel gap...
