Cooper Zeon RS3-G1, anyone?

Spring is almost here, and the snow is finally melting away. Time to think about swapping to summer tires. I bought a new set of Cooper Zeon RS3-A UHP tires that were on sale for my 07 Type S last autumn, but now I see another set of Coopers on sale, the Zeon RS3-G1, which are not quite UHP, but 'all-season high performance' tires, I think. Anyone have experience with these ones?

Can't speak for the RS3-G1's, but my experience with the RS3-A's were a nightmare! My gas mileage dropped an average of 4 MPG upon installation. I wound up returning them under their 45 day/try return policy. Check out the General GMax AS-05's. I did, and haven't looked back.

You'll save money too!

Oh really? Damn, drop of 4 MPG is pretty significant! Wonder why such a big difference in mileage? Thing is, the original owner bought RS3-A's for the TL the year before I bought the car from him. But because the tires were staggered, the front tires are wearing out more quickly than the rears, although to be expected after driving some 40,000 km without rotating them, which is pretty good. So when I saw the RS3-A's on sale, I decided to get them again, figuring they should be just as good as the current ones. How long have you had the GMax AS-05's on, and has there been any difference in mileage, driving characteristics, etc? I was looking at those too.

I've had the GMax AS-05's over a year now and they're still excellent.

Awesome, I might have to check the GMax AS-05's out as well. Hopefully there won't be too much of a price discrepancy between the two brands!
