Continental Viking Snow Tech
Hi guys,
Have any of you ever tried these winter tires or heard anything about them?
The local tire dealer here told me that for the price these are excellent winter tires...however I just wanted a more objective opinion.
Size wise he was suggesting going with 215/55 16"? Does this sound right to you guys?
Thanks

I agree that in reading about these tires (Consumer Reports), they apparently are very good for dry/ wet conditions as well. I think your dealer is suggesting a minus 1 size (for snow tires, it is often suggested to reduce the tire width by in general 10 mm so that they dig a narrower path in snow rather than 'snowshoeing' on top. If the price is right, I would buy them. Thet are supposed to be good for moderate winters where roads are cleared promptly (I read this as they might not be the best in Alaska where roads may not be cleared as quickly). I bought OEM 17" rims for my car for the winter and was planning to get these for the TL and my wife's car (Cadillac CTS). They were $99 from tiresavings.com for the OEM size. Another good, inexpensive snow tire with really good ratings is the Mastercraft Glacier Gip II (about $82 in OEM size). I used to have Blizzack WS 50's for my 00TL, which were really good as well, but for the 06TL, they are kind of expensive.

From what I've heard it doesn't snow as much in Mississauga as in Montreal (which is where I'm originally from). The 215 should be ok for here. However, I do agree that if I were still in MTL that I'd probably go with the 205.
Merci quand meme!!!
