Continental or Falken tire thoughts

Getting tires on wife's 06 TL in next few weeks. Local dealer suggest either Contiential DWS or Faulken ZE912 or the PT722. I am looking for a good rideing, low noise, good treadlife tire. A lot of positive reviews on the DWS, not a lot of reviews found on the Faulkens. The DWS's are $200 more. Are they worth the $200 more or will the Faulkens be fine for what type of tire I need. Thanks

The Falkens are good tires but they are a bit noisy. I would go with the Conti's if I were you. Better all around tire.

There is an old saying, "You get what you pay for"!!! I would go for the DWS. Check out Tire Rack for reviews.

anything else you're looking for? handling? snow/wet? dry? turns/corners?

so far...treadwear...its rated 50Kmi...
noise...much quieter than others i've had
handling...soft in turns...but i compromised for better grip in snow.
look over the tirerack site or you can read the GI-normous thread on the conti vs michelin thread.

if this is for the wifey's car, then the conti's will be fine for all season performance. i don't know anything about the falkens, but they were never a tire i had on my radar when i was shopping (the few times i have).

stay away from good years. treadwear is awful, they get louder as they wear, and they really aren't that great in snow but decent in rain. you really don't wanna go too cheap with tires.

the conti's give the best bang for your buck for an UHP all season.

DWS all the way. I just installed a set not too long ago. There was few storm in my local and these tires' performance in rain (wet) are flawless. Now i need to wait until winter to test their performance on snow :P

So I had the falken ziex 912....they did great in the summer and good in the snow....its a very nice tire....but I will NOT buy them again...

the downside you ask?

they lasted me only 18K miles....i was pretty slammed with serious camber but still 16-18K miles and I was able to see the threads?

They were pretty quite, gave low rolling resistance (more mpg)....I think Falkens were awesome tires back in 2008 but not in 2011 since they didnt chance anything....I have heard so much good stuff about Continental DWS....I am actually looking to buy a set for my winter rims....

The only cons I have heard about the DWS is that they are a bishhh to shine....no matter what tire shine you use, they wont sparkle...

My son-in-law bought them for his CLS 500 and said in anything more than 1" of dry snow they are crap. Outside of that they are great.

they are an all season tire, not a dedicated 'snow' tire. expecting more than better than average grip in the snow just isnt realistic. if you're worried that much about snow, buy a cheaper summer tire and run dedicated snows in the winter. It ends up being almost the same cost wise when you factor in how long your summer tires will last.

oh yeah Conti>Falken but Falken+snow tires>Conti.

wise choice bud.

i had falken's (but they were 452's) before i got my DWS's, and i can certainly say that the DWS's are what i should have gotten in the first place...without question. they're a much better tire imo.

good luck!

I am on a set of Bridgestone Potenza G019. Grid...Love them.
Good tire. Dry and wet is just fine. and Actually in the snow drove to vermont, and these tires were very good, Above average for an allseason tire.

am on about 40 K miles on them and they are probably good for 1 more year.

If your looking for another recommendation.

Yokoham Avids H4, or V4...I had them on the TL also. I think it was the V4...... These tires lasted 60K miles and some.

235 45 17 stock wheels on a stock suspension. 2004 , 6 speed manual.

I loved the Conti Extreme Contacts I had my '01 CLS.
Low noise, plenty sticky, 40,000 miles, great in snow and ice.
I'm not sure if the new version is as comparable (Conti DWS).

I was looking to buy Falkens 18" but there weren't in stock so the worker of discounttire recommended eagle f1 and that it would be a better performance/smooth ride (I want performance tires and making the car look more aggressive). I had them for a week and they are horrible in the wet and going around the corners gave me a skeptical thought of quality of the tires. The guy said he will exchange them for free and I know the continental dws are better than falkens but will falkens be the next best choice? or atleast better than the eagle f1s?
